This was a very interesting place to visit. If you like natural formations, then this is one place of many to visit. It is just minutes of of I-70 in Kansas. It is a nice place to take a break from traveling.

Kids loved the formations. Easy to find following signs. Trails lead around the formations to explore. Shaded areas nice break from hot sun. Worth visiting!

We brought our 2 dogs for a ride and walk around Kanapolis Lake, Wilson (Czech Capitol of something), Marquette, and up to Wilson Lake. Nice way for a slow day in good weather. Central Kansas doesn't have too much. We stopped and saw both Mushroom Rocks in their tiny park. If you come from the East, you may miss the second one that is behind the picnic table where you are to turn left. It's surrounded by trees and only visible from the road when coming from the west. If you want to make a day of it, be sure to take the 3 mile trail walk to the rock formations at Wilson Lake nearby too.

… before the Desecrators. How can anyone defile these rare and fragile geologic formations by carving their initials, or whatever, on them? Only a cretin would perform such an act of defilement and apparently plenty of thickos have visited this interesting place.So sickened by the senseless and moronic graffiti, I found it difficult to get past my outrage. Nonetheless, I would encourage respectful, interested folks to give this small, semi-remote site a visit.The south side of the park requires a short hike on a path that is eroding – further testament to the delicate geology from which these mushroom rocks sprout. Also, around the rocks and trees, be mindful of the poison ivy. On the path keep a keen eye open for the tinty scuttling lizards - so cute!Different seasons and different light would offer a seductive shoot for photographers.Date of Visit: 02Aug2014

If you have some extra time and enjoy going to off the beaten track kind of places then this is a great find! It's just the kind of place me and my family love.

Pretty hard to find. Actually stumbled on it by complete accident. But when we did find it it was very pretty, well kept. The restrooms could use some attention, but what a nice place for a day trip.

This is a very small natural area that showcases a geologic phenomenon. Large boulders are balanced on sandstone pedestals creating giant mushrooms on the prairie. A dirt road divides the area into two parts, so investigate the park on both sides of the road. There are a couple of picnic tables and rest rooms. Don't forget your camera.
