Lots of interactive displays for children. Liked the wheel workshop, train ride, electricity museum, telephones museum. Staff were friendly and encouraged my child to participate. The cafe was a little disappointing mostly as it wasn't particularly clean, sandwiches are not good. Overall, very much worth a family visit.

We visited on a quiet term-time Friday. There were very few visitors but the volunteers were very enthusiastic and helpful, with most of the exhibits open to view. We had time to talk to the volunteers who were all experts in their particular fields.

We took the grandchildren and they had a wonderful time. Lots of engaging activities and loads of open space. The industrial exhibits we found very absorbing for all ages.Great value cafeteria on site for lunch and teas. It's very well set out with great staff/volunteers.

I visited Amberley museum today with my four year old and two grandparents in their seventies. We had a fantastic day despite the drizzly weather. There really is something for everyone there: wood turning, displays of printing works, engines, buses, fire engines, railway stock etc etc and with bus and train rides included in the price it was very good value for money. The volunteers were very informative and the restaurant is ok. Many interactive displays for kids too. Will definitely visit again.

We went for a family day out following a recommendation from a friend and were thoroughly disappointed. From the awful entrance to the terrible cafe. I have nothing good to say about our visit. Every thing was closed, except bus and train and they both stopped running over lunch time. Poor playground, poor quality food, horrific toilets. There's such potential for the site. If we had known everything was closed before entering we wouldn't have wasted our £26 entry.

We spent half a day here, and had a great time. There are numerous exhibits, on a variety of different subjects, lots of which have interactive elements for children, or adults, to play with and learn from.Well worth the price, especially if you can spend the whole day - we didn't have nearly enough time for everything.

With 46 different exhibit areas, Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre offers a wonderful day out with something for everyone. I have been coming here since it opened in the late 1970s and am always impressed by the diversity of attractions. Where else could you go and learn about printing, lime production, radio, engineering, road making, woodcrafts, pottery, electricity, wheelwrights and telecommunication to mention just a few. Add to this a lovely rural setting with woodland walks, free parking and it is next to a railway station. Do allow a full day to see it all as there is a lot to take in. There are also free rides on a narrow gauge railway and vintage buses and it is also dog friendly. I try to visit most years and it is particularly wonderful on a sunny day. I have visited many attractions across the UK and this is one of my favourites.

We have been a friend of Amberley for around ten years, buying an annual pass. It is such good value for money. If you live locally, then you can pop in for a few hours or a whole day. All our granddaughters love it there. The pass gets you in to virtually all events and for two adults and three children the pass costs £65 for the whole year. Many activities geared to the children in the school holidays....

The centre is on the site of an old chalk pit used in Victorian times to make lime for mortar and other uses. It's right next to Amberle station, so you can get there without a car if you want (there's also a large car park). Then you walk along the remnant of the railway spur to the pit..The site itself is full of industrial heritage and crafts stuff, too much to mention, really, but including an electricity exhibit, some original kilns, locomotive shed, rural telephone exchange, steam engines, all with things for kids to fiddle with; plus lots of interesting rebuilt buildings - Hove ticket office, Storrington fire station, Southdown bus garage, Brighton tram shelter, and loads more. And there's a free train ride around the site, and a free bus too. A marvellous day out for kids - lots to see, lots to fiddle with. For the amount of stuff that's there, it's not too expensive; and dad will have as much fun as the kids.
