Prehistoric site in unbelievable location, breath-taking. The walk up the hill was invigorating, the site itself impressive and mysterious; the views are amazing

An easy 20-30 minute climb on one of two paths. The first goes from a small car park to the South. A new path goes from opposite Dolly's cottage, a museum on the road into Strandhill town to the North. The new path might not be open yet, I haven't checked recently, but it will be soon (Feb/March 2015) and I think this is the best way to climb because the way the cairn (the mound of stones containing Queen Maeve's grave) rises up in your view as you approach from the North is wonderful.

A class wake, nice path up it and stunning views from the top of all of sligo, but mainly of the lovely strand hill. really worth it!

Very easy hike, gently meandering up the side of the mountain, albeit we wandered a little off the trail. Outstanding views of the county, with sheep and horses all around. Beautiful pictures, and this honestly is part of why Sligo was my group's favorite place in Ireland.

This is a really worthwhile climb to Queen Maeve's cairn. It is a relatively short climb to the top where you can enjoy views in all directions, including the Ox Mountains, Lough Gill, and Slieve League in Donegal and on a clear day Croagh Patrick in the west. The terrain can be un-even under foot in places so I would hiking boots or runners with good grip and good ankle support

We enjoyed the hike to the top. There is a nice path that leads you up so there is no chance of getting lost. The view of Sligo and the ocean make for great pictures.

I first walked up Knocknarea as a young native of Sligo some 50 years ago and as I live abroad I try to complete this 2 hour walk ( approx.) whenever I revisit Sligo. The views from the top are just breath taking and on a clear day you can see for miles from south Sligo out over the Atlantic Ocean up to North Sligo and a great view of Benbulben mountain down to Lissadell . Don't miss these tremendous views

Nice easy walk which only takes about 2 hours to do up/back, but views are spectacular and great feeling taking in the panorama

If you want amazing sights, a great walk and the freshest of air, then this is for you. Underrated this is fantastic so if you're the wild Atlantic way check this out, before lunch or coffee in strandhill

We followed the signs and arrived at the top of a hill beside a farm, a small coffee caravan and a parking lot. Not knowing exactly what to expect except a 1.2 km hike up to a cairn, we followed the trail up the hill. The first part was an easy slope that I believe was a small creek bed, it was drizzling when we started and the rocks were slippery as well as puddles... wear appropriate footwear you don't need hiking boots but you wouldn't want to hike it in sandals. Midway up you get the choice of a straight shot upwards or a easier and slightly longer meandering trail. If you have bad knees or need help, take the trail to the left and take your time. It took about 45 minutes for my group to get to the top because we were going at a slower pace, but the trail is definitely something any age or experience could manage. The view at the top is spectacular and well worth the trip! Although the wind gets up and it can get really cold really fast.
