Nice to take a few hours outside the busy city of Bogota and enjoy pure fresh air and renew your senses! Try to get a good guide and be sure to bring your camera. You should treat yourself to a nice meal at one of the typical wood cooking restaurants. REMEMBER: Colombian love their meat cooked WELL DONE -- if you want less burnt, ( medium ) you must be sure to ask and insist. Try the typical sausages and the fried intestines ... Just try it ... it's great eats

This Laguna could be nice to combined it with Cathedral del Sal. Like you're in Bogota and take the bus on your own zipaquira & continue to Gautavita village. The village itself is nice, meet the real local people and as well on the way to Laguna you will see the local farmers cooking pork ribs etc on BBQ with planten( similar to banana ) and their sweet potato. In the Laguna park, you can follow the history of the indigenous peoples . .

In a spectacular scenery with the most pure and fresh air you can know about the Muiscas culture and tradition, sorounded of mysticims and wisdom. You have to climb a mountain to go to the lagoon, extraordinart. It is a place you have to know if you go to Colombia.

If you like the prehispanic culture.... this is a great place to go. The trip from Bogota is very nice. All around is worth to see.

A bit difficult to get to on public transport, very popular with people from Bogotá on the weekend. Beautiful area, organized tours (in Spanish). Go on a beautiful day only.

Such a lovely sacred space. Sacred space protected by the government of Colombia. Very well done and signage includes "words of wisdom" by indigenous peoples. Would love to see the "complete" restoration of the lagoon if approved by the indigenous peoples of the country. Felt honored to have visited the sacred space. So glad it remains a protected space in the country.

Guatavita has an interesting story and is a nice place to walk, to buy souvenirs at an excellent price, and to have a nice meal. Expect to pay midrange prices. This is well within even economical touristing. And the fresh air will do you good. Best suggestion: Make it an all-day affair with Guatavita and lunch in the morning and then off to Zipaquirá for the afternoon.

I only wish it was sunnier. It's a beautiful view and I was very much into it because of how much I've read about pre-colonial history. There isn't much else to do and it is at least a half-day trip from Bogota.
