This is one of the unusual museums that is open Monday, closed Tuesdays. Besides that, it houses an interesting and changing array of exhibits of recent and modern artists.

The museum is connected to other museums and it is very interesting. There are English next to Spanish so you are not lost in translation. The courtyards are beautiful where you can just sit and relax.

Whatever Banco de la Republica touches turns to gold - certainly true in another review I did of the gold museum (Museo de Oro). Their art museum is part of a complex that includes the Botero art museum and the Casa de Moneda, a museum recounting the history of Colombian money and its production. The art museum is built around a stunning colonial building with a beautiful inner garden. But the spaces within the museum are very modern. The permanent collection is arranged by periods starting with the earliest 17th century religious art with a quirky room of paintings of dead nuns. There are also stunning altar pieces loaded with emeralds and other precious stones. From there you move on through the centuries up to the avant-garde present. When we visited, there were two interesting traveling exhibits.

They have an amazing collection of art, both modern and other wise. It's all in Spanish, but the art speaks for its self. Give yourself about 2 hours for this place unless you just breeze through.

I ve been here in 2013 and there were very interesting pieces of photos but I went this february and there was a show of potatoes that were supposed to ge electricty, very weird... It is one step away from the Museo Botero and the Casa Moneda so if if the exposition is not that great you can always go to the neighbouring museums.

Quite a collection. Amazing and shown well. Boteros. Dali. Picasso. Yow! Wish we had more time there.

Plan on combining visit with one to the Botero museum! Great breadth of collection. Nice oasis in the middle of La Candelaria

Actually, this museum is kind of tied in to the Botero Museum. I actually preferred this museum to the Botero. Beware, however: you may expect it to be closed on Mondays. It is not. It is closed on Tuesdays.

I really enjoyed my visit to this museum. There's quite a lot to see from all different periods. I would recommend a visit to anyone with even a slight interest in art.

If you ate traveling to colombia check for what expocision is on display at the time you may have a great surprise to find and Internacional artist that you may never get to see again. Like Andy Warhol or Vik Muniz. Because the museum is part of circuit of museums that belong to the central bank you may all see in the same block the Botero museum and the central bank private collection of art.
