This is the largest cemetery I've ever seen and I love making cemetery tours. There are apparently 40,000 graves here of widely varying ages. Great ornate markers but the fun is hunting for Jesus in cowboy boots and reading the information available about it.

Every tourist to the area must see the Jesus in cowboy boots at Evergreen Cemetery. Plus many, many more local historical notables' final resting place. Cemeteries are generally considered fun places...but this one can be!

It may be a novelty and a bit of a scavenger hunt but was so worth finding the Walking Jesus carrying a cross in Cowboy Boots. Beyond that there are a lot nice looking head stones in this cemetery, but walking Jesus in Cowboy Boots is the star.

I read about Jesus in Cowboy Boots online. We just had to check it out. There are a few websites that describe this headstone in detail, which you must read. This is definitely not Jesus in Cowboy Boots. The man that lies there was not a Christian at all. Very neat to see the headstone if you know a little but about it. The cemetery is HUGE!!! There are a lot of pretty headstones. Everybody should venture and see the neat headstones.

Evergreen Cemetery in Paris, Texas, established in 1866, is known by many for the iconic "Jesus in cowboys boots" monument marking the grave of Willet Babcock. Many other large, beautifully carved monuments are set in this 95 acre cemetery, including the grave of Confederate General Sam Bell Maxey. Many monuments feature elaborate angels and one represents a resting buffalo. Open sunrise to sunset, this cemetery was named a Texas Historical Cemetery in 2012.
