We have been going to the Carolinas Aviation Museum for as many years as it has been open. This Museum is very nice and takes about 2 hours to see. Great for kids. If you like aviation stop and read a few of the amazing stories that this place holds. If you think you will come back with in the year a membership is the way to go. Have Fun!

I took my husband there because he loves the science behind aviation. We literally picked that place as we drove into town and couldn't have been more impressed. The "miracle on the Hudson" plane is parked right in the middle of the hangar! It didn't say anywhere on the reviews I'd looked at so it was very unexpected but they had an area playing a 20min video of interviews from the survivors which was captivating. They had a lot of other planes there - fighter jets, helicopters, even a plane they used to sell at Macy's in the early 1900s. We loved it and would recommend it to anyone traveling in Charlotte. We also liked that all of the volunteers were retired veterans, most of them had flown in planes that were on display or had really great stories and historical facts to share. Not much in the gift shop.

Great way to pass a couple of hours.Lots of really interesting planes from several generations.Has the Airbus 320 that landed on the Hudson River, and you F14, F4, DC3, and lots more.

It's a very small museum, but I live close to one of the largest Air Force museums so I'm a bit spoiled. The only real aircraft I spent much time looking at was the plane from the Miracle on the Hudson. Reading the stories and seeing the artifacts was nice. Just don't plan a whole afternoon around it.

The place is small in that , it is not like the Udvar Hazy in Virginia. Small number of planes mostly from the Douglas or MCDouglas family. there are Jet fighters, cargo planes , helicopters etc. The most important is the US airways that landed on the hudson river, piloted by Sullenberger. Really great exhibit as you can see the entire plane reconstructed.

A fun day for the history of flight. The cockpit of the F-4 was fun. Seeing the US Air plane from the Miracle on the Hudson was impresive.

This is a very nice museum with aircraft that have a history. You need to tour with a docent to appreciate their stories. One recent addition is the "miracle on the Hudson" plane. If you just walk through you may not be impressed!

I got free tickets to the Carolinas Aviation Museum and went on a Saturday. I was promptly greeted at the door and escorted in to the display area. The amount of airplanes and displays was great! This museum has the US Airways plane that went down ini the Hudson River (Miracle on the Hudson) and that day, there were two survivors who told their stories and answered questions. Overall, great experience. My 4 year old grandson loves it so much that he asks to go at least once a month. There is a flight simulator that children can sit in and "pilot the airplane". Great family experience.

Liked the Goose downed/ crashed US Airways exhibit. Didn't like the price. Nice to watch arrivals outside, and listen to Air traffic control.

We had an excellent time here. There are two major attractions to see here in my opinion. The first is the wreckage of of US Airways Flight 1549 aka "Miracle on the Hudson". When you see this aircraft in person you realize the "miracle" wasn't the landing but the fact the aircraft didn't break apart. The second is a C-130 from Operation Eagle Claw. The museum is new compared to others so there is only about 20 exhibits. I was more then satisfied paying to see the two aircraft mentioned above. One word of advice. The trip is not complete without a trip to the other side of the airport to see Charlotte Douglas Airport Overlook Park. You can get very close to aircraft taking off an landing on the airports longest runway.
