We enjoyed our visit to Stari Bar as its an excellent place to spend a few hours. The grounds are larger than I thought they would be so you could stroll around and get lost. The fortress has an impressive position overlooking a small town and sitting right underneath the mountains. A lot of the fortress lies in ruins but they have rebuilt some of it. Enjoy it, it is definitely worth a visit.

the fortress is very beautiful! there are wonderful panoramic views to the mountains. you can feel the history under your feet. I am very glad we discpvered this place by chance because it was not mentionned much anywhere.

The views of the mountains and the feel of this ruined city make for a wonderful atmosphere. As I walked around I felt like history was around every corner, partially ruined houses or rebuilt churches. I think a moment I enjoyed was the citadel where the wall has partially collapsed, you can see the gap and where it leans on the remaining section.

Usually when you mention old towns of Montenegro , you see flat towns near sea with lot of shops, overcrowded with tourists and expencive stuff... But this is something totaly diferent.. This is stroll for a soul, it is old fortres, renovated recently and its easy accesible from Bar,just a few minuts away.. Lot of old buildings to see and enjoy in sightviews... If you aren lucky, depending on weather,you will have a nice and useful time in Stari Bar. Warm suggest to visit this national treasure of Montenegro...

One of the most beautifull places in Montenegro, just few minutes drive from the city of Bar. Entrance to the ruins - 2 EUR, car par at the hill - another 2 EUR (even if you park outside the main parking place, the guys will find you and give you the ticket). The place is still not crowded although really beautiful and worthe a visit. The best time to go there is in the afternoon, when there is not to much sun. You will walk around the ruins of churches and castles which are not very well marked and described but it makes them somehow misterious. the palce is the most beautiful during the sunset. It is surrounded by two mosques and once you get out of the fortress you can walk a little up and you will find yourself on a small mountain track. Going down from the fortress you pass the bars and restaurant. Although this is a tourist place and you would not expect the good food there, you can find really good quality restaurants - try Kaldrma - you will not be disappointed

If it happened that you have vacation in bar then you should see it as it is not far and there is not so much to see around. I liked walking there and looking at wonderful scenes of nearby places, mountains. Also in stary bar there are few looking attractive restaurants, souvenir shops.

Stari Bar was recommended by agent of our holiday apartment. The ruins are actually 4km away from the main city. The entry is 2euros for adults. The map costed 1euro but was worthless. There are green arrows around which direct your way through. We also saw a snake but the person on counter refused to agree. The map had photo of the oldest olive tree which made us believe that it is situated in the ruins. After fruitless search, it turned out to be situated in some other village nearby. However, the whole Bar city has couple of old olive plantations. This place is good for classy photos in ruins but won't say a must. There are couple of hiking trails nearby which might be more attractive but we didn't have time for it.

Для тех кто любит историю, мощные стены, руины, акведуки, и завораживающий вид на город!мы были в самую жару ( ещё и на 7 мес беременности), но любопытство превыше всего!

Я жил в Сутоморе и в Бар мы поехали прогуляться.Сначала автобус долго кружил по Бару. Это достаточно современный город. Было интересно посмотреть на быт его жителей. В конце концов мы приехали к старому Бару. Автобусы тут ходят довольно часто. До Бара билет стоит 1 евро, до старого Бара как оказалось 2 евро. Правда кондуктор зазевался и мы доехали за 1.С погодой нам не повезло. Как только мы вышли из автобуса начался ливень. Мы побежали к домам и здесь я увидел магазин одежды. Забежав в него я заметил в продаже зонты. В общем проблему с дождем мы решили через минуту после выхода из автобуса.Подъем к крепости проходит мимо множества кафе и ресторанчиков. Есть даже ресторан мороженного который мы не смогли пройти мимо.Добравшись до крепости мы зашли внутрь. Было уже около 5 вечера и мы решили оставить крепость на другой день, когда будет лучше погода и будет больше времени. Вместо этого решили прогуляться дальше по городку. Что бы не заблудится мы решили не сходить с той дороги по которой пришли.Узкие улочки старого Бара обладают очень приятной и сильной атмосферой старины. Дорога постоянно виляет и ведет в гору. Булыжная мостовая, красивые дома и строения, буйная растительность позволяют сделать множество удачных фотографий. В сырую погоду рекомендую одевать надежную обувь, на мокрых булыжниках легко подскользнуться. После крепости вам не встретиться ни одного магазина, так что все необходимое рекомендую покупать внизу.В конце подъема вас ждет награда. Дорога по которой вы идете приведет вас к ущелью между двумя горами. Очень живописное место. Дальше мы не пошли, нужно было возвращаться к автобусу что бы успеть на ужин в отеле. В автобусе нам встретился кондуктор предпенсионного возраста. Во времена СССР он учился в одном из Российских вузов и потому в совершенстве владеет русским языком и всегда рад в нем попрактиковаться. Она рассказал нам много интересного о Баре пока мы его проезжали. Кстати говоря все люди в Черногории очень доброжелательны и приветливы. Проблем с общением не возникает, даже если есть языковой барьер.

Место для любителей руин и развалин.В принципе инфраструктуры никакой.Просто развалины.Частично отреставрированные.Очень странное расположение (обычно все старинные крепости в этих местах стоят на берегу моря, а эта сильно в глубине, отчего так - я так и не понял).
