It closes for most of winter and some of spring. But it's well worth a whole day's visit. Fantastic gardens, great castle with so much to see. I spent an entire day there with my 3 year old.

Arundel castle is a must if your in the area, on summer the whole area is at its best, but you need a whole day to take it all in.

I live in Arundel and agree with everyone that says that a visit to the Castle is a must. However, whilst working in the town last Saturday I found that so many visitors had been reading the reviews on Tripadvisor (written recently) and had travelled quite a way only to find the Castle closed. This is disappointing especially for children. Arundel is a lovely place to visit Winter or Summer but thought I should write this note to let you all know that the Castle always closes during the winter months.

We visited here when staying near Pulborough. The weather was great for the visit, which is not always the case in a British summer! The gardens are wonderful and the exercise to the top of the keep was good for us! A wonderful day out and a nice place to have tea and cake at the end of the walk. Would definitely say this sums up this part of a beautiful area of England.

Myself and my wife took our two children (ages 10 and 7) together with our nephew and niece (aged 8 and 5). It goes without saying that the castle is fascinating and steeped in history. Myself and wife really enjoyed walking through the castle. However the kids did start to get a little board but you have the option to walk up to one of the turrets which offer fantastic views - the kids loved this. It is also important to add that the walled gardens are truly beautiful. There are also lots of gardens and green houses that have fruit and veg, which again the kids could to relate to. There is a nice cafe to enjoy and take the weight off!!All in all it really was worth the money and although photos were not allowed in the building (always disappointing) you can take photos from the turret and benefit from capturing the fantastic views.
