This part of the town is beautiful in the summer, many cafes and restaurants. Just stroll around and look at the old houses and the small shops.

I loved Old Rauma! The old houses were well maintained, people were friendly and most spoke English. Everything is nearby and is great for shopping or just walking around. It has shops, boutiques, craft shops, diners, beauty salons etc.

You can easily call this historical beautiful sight the nicest "mall" on earth. It's full of shops and boutiques from household items, decoratives and organic foods to designer clothing and handmade crafts! Not to mention museums, church, diners, cafeterias and jewellery shops. Spas and beauty salons as well as hairdressers welcome you summer or winter! Enjoy the beautiful athmosphere and do some serious shopping as well!

An old town that has been preserved very well. Lots of old wooden buildings, which reminded me of frontier towns seen elsewhere in the world. Would recommend coming here in the summer, and taking one f the many restaurants overlooking the square and outside areas.

Winding, interesting, nice stuff to look at and wonderful houses at every turn. Easy to walk about with enough information to allow you to appreciate what you see.

Unesco world heritage is a price given to such useless places than it is almost untrustworthyness..in particular rauma represents the biggest amount of wooden houses in the world..or smth similar..anyway I would not recommend it to youngsters..this a dead city you can visit in two hours or less

Make no mistake - Old Rauma is absolutely beautiful! I recommend you wonder off the two main streets to the small alleys, river banks and back streets and make sure you've got enough space on your memory card. I've always loved Porvoo but after this last visit I must say I like Rauma just as much - even a bit more. They've done marvelous job ripping the asphalt away and replacing it with cobble stones to make the entity even better. But for the reasons why I just can't give it full five stars...- What is the absolutely TERRIBLE thing in the middle of the Market Place blocking the view from one end to another of the square. Just tear it down, big mistake!- why were all the shops closed on summer Sunday? They closed very early on Saturday and that's it. Was having a breakfast at the terrace of Sali Cafe, there was surprisingly much tourists from many countries. Why don't the businesses want to sell at the high season?

This town is really beautiful. All those well preserved wooden houses are amazing. I was fascinated about the windows and the collections the inhabitants show in them.

We visited Rauma on a sunny sunday in the middle of summer. Almost all shops and unique restaurants were closed. Also the famous pystökaffe coffee stands were closed. The city walk (price 6 € per person) was nice when it finally started. The tourist office was not sure if the walk is available even tough they had an advertisement outside the office.
