Of course you can't take any date with any wild animal, we know well this rule. In Era Eero we were unlucky and we saw nothing at all, neither wolverine nor bears. But this is not a problem. The problem is that we arrived at 14.00 o'clock as agreed but we found a locked gate, and we had to wait two hours nearly before someone arrive and open it. We called them by phone, the man who answered didn't know a word in English. After two hours, as I said, this man arrived with two kids... they opened the gate and hurried to prepare some sandwiches and tea for us. We had payed in advance (and the price is very high for an hide) and nobody was waiting for us, they simply got the money and forgot us. Then they took us to the hide... Now, I've seen many hides in the world, but nowhere I saw such a stinky hide. It has two little bathrooms with the hole full of old dirth.... I think that a pail would be far better than those two false bathrooms. Then the man put some lures outside the hide to attract the wolverine... too late probably, because I know that in other places lures has been put before photographers come: the smell has to diffuse in the air around. In the end, I think that the price payed in advance is definitely too high for such an experience. I can say that there are other places where the service is far better at a lower price... and I saw many animals too.

If you are exploring Finland, it is worth taking the time to travel to Lieksa so that you can partake in a truly fantastic wildlife experience. The company offered to do a 4-hour round trip to pick us up from Valamo monastery in Finland (also interesting) and offered us hot soup, coffee and cake on arrival at the main lodge. We then spent one night in the hide with Eero Kortelainen, a guide who could not do enough to make sure we were comfortable, despite the language barrier! We saw three wolverines, including a mummy and babies and as it was getting dark, we heard the exhilarating heavy footsteps of a brown bear. Eero made sure we had snacks in the night and drove us back for a hearty breakfast in the morning, before giving us diplomas and taking us to the train station in Lieksa. We can honestly say that it was the best thing we did in Finland and we feel blessed for encountering such wildlife and for doing it with such an excellent company. Go go go!
