We took a horse drawn carriage through the forest and park which is devoted to conservation. The forest is beautiful and peaceful and our tour also included walking through the Bison and animal preserve- which is dedicated to protecting animals. We were able to walk through the area with our guide and see (among others) bison, red deer, boar, lynx, and a zubron(cross between a cow and bison). Our guide was very good and also talked about the variety of trees and vegetation in the Park. Well worth including on your tour of the area.

The only way to see this national park is by taking a guided tour. It was wonderful, our guide truly enjoyed herself while showing us the beauty of a primordial forest. Very relaxing amazing 3 hours as we walked along the tour route. We could have opted for a carriage ride or even bike route, but walking the trail truly was the best way to see all that this enchanting place had to offer. We will definitely go back if we have a chance. There was a place to purchase food and water before entering he strict preserve, but once we walked away from the main building (about 2 km) there is nothing available, and only and outhouse right by he gate, so I strongly suggest a visit to the restroom in the main building where the tickets are purchased, bug spray and a bottle of water to bring along.

Well worth to get up from bed at dawn, walk for couple kliometers, Great opportunity to commune with unspoiled nature. We had a very good guide, she told us about changes that occur in nature, about we - "city people" had no idea.

We never would have seen all that we did or had known where to go if we didn't have our guide, Joanna! She was very knowledgeable about the forest, the trees and its animals! There were 3 of us and we did the Bison Tete a Tete tour, which requires you to have your own car. Joanna met us at our hotel at 5 a.m. It was cold and dark, but it's necessary to get on the road early to see the animals before they start waking up. We drove for awhile and that's when we had a huge wild boar and a fox cross our path. Later on, we saw a couple of bison in the forest and in an open field on the edge of the forest. We were very fortunate! We also had a wild boar run across the trail in the middle of the forest. We ended up walking about 10 km so make sure you are dressed warmly and wear good hiking shoes. We knew the weather conditions ahead of time so were well prepared. We wanted to focus on seeing the animals and the fall foliage, so Joanna geared our tour to that. Of course, you never know what animals you might see in the wild. Our tour lasted a little over 5 hours.Excellent tour!I'll admit there were several emails back and forth trying to arrange and make a deposit for the tour. I would recommend staying on top of it and emailing or calling, if necessary. Since we had a 5 a.m. start time, the office also sent us our guide's phone number. As far as the Reserve that's mentioned, I wouldn't waste your time. It was okay. I felt kinda bad for the animals in their small spaces. But if you want to see a bison or deer up close, this would be the place to do it.

An amazing forest with lots of history. We opted for the English tour and were willing to pay the full 195zl, luckily 2 other couples joined us which cut the price dramatically. Our guide was very knowledgable and the forest we were able to see was really remarkable - fungi you don't see anywhere else in the world, areas where wild boars recently trampled the dirt, and trees upon trees upon trees! Truly amazing.

To access some areas of the Bialowieza National Park, you need to go with a guide. We went for a 3-4 hour guided walk and I would highly recommend that you do. The guides are available in multiple languages so it shouldn't be a problem. We were treated to lots of information from the biology side as well as historical. The forest was gorgeous in autumn colours.Take a bottle of water with you, once you start, you will be in the forest for a few hours.

It is not necessary to see European Bisons with a guide, you can visit Rezerwat Pokazowy Żubrów on your own. It is located a little bit away from the road between Bialowieża and Hajnówka, and you cannot miss the signs leading to it. You can get there by a car, and there is a fee of 8 PLN for parking. There is also a fee of 8 PLN to enter almost a 28ha. of the reserve that was created in 1936. We were kind of disappointed not to be able to see some rare animals like lynx that was simply missing in its cage, and some animals looked like depressed, especially żubronie (a cross between a bison with domestic cattle), whose yard did not look very inviting to stay in...
