The art on display was well set out but quite limited. Easy to access. It did not provide a memorable visit.

Not overwhelming. A good collection of early paintings, short on the modern. Just enough to see without feeling overloaded and ending up with an aching back...good cafe with outside seating.

When walking to the train station we visited the Musee. A gem. Excellent collection. The building itself is worth the visit. Be sure to go upstairs. The first floor is devoted to the collection of the history of Angers but the real worth of the museum in our view is on the upper floors.

We visited this museum as part of a trip visiting major towns down the Loire. Make sure you get the free English audio guide which we were told of as we were leaving so I don't think we got the most out of the visit. It appeared to be strong on early 19th century painting but light on post Impressionism - the marble sculptures are worth seeing on the ground floor.

The reception is friendly, the building outstanding, the way the artworks are exhibited: impeccable. Most paintings are made by lesser gods, nonetheless one can spend a lovely morning or afternoon here. The part about Angers is welldone, don't skip it , if you have time.

Not only is the collection excellent, but the staff members of the museum were also friendly and welcoming to American visitors who tried speaking French. One could spend an entire visit in the collection about the history of Angers; the rest of the collection is equally fascinating. The museum itself is housed in a beautifully renovated Renaissance building. We visited on a Sunday, when the adjoining restaurant had a popular (but not overcrowded) Sunday brunch.

Allow yourself several hours for this museum. There is much to see and some of the recent finds from ancient times are very interesting!

A very interesting museum in the heart of Angers. The museum had a very reasonable admission charge of 4 Euros. There was a very engrossing exhibition in a sideroom about the history of Angers including artefacts and paintings of the city. Once in the museum proper, it contains exhibits and paintings ranging from Roman times up until the present day and even including two goldfish in a bowl in the modern art exhibits. I felt it was well worth visiting and would definitely recommend it to anybody visiting the city. I visited on a Sunday afternoon and it was fairly quiet with only a few visitors about.

A huge collection of paintings and scruptures, from different periods. Choose an appropriate time, early the morning, to really enjoy.
