I stumbled onto this building while walking the town on the last day of my trip. It was a wonderful discovery and one of my favorite places to visit in the town. Had I found it earlier in my month-long stay, I would have revisited often. A beautiful church which had its roof replaced by iron and glass. It lets in natural light and is filled with sculptures.Wonderful space.

Definitely a must see if you are amateur of French culture and old stones. The gallery is located near the city center, and the castle (Chateau du Roi Rene). Not only has the Gallery beautiful sculpture but the building itself is Art ( the roof has been renovated by glasses which gives an interesting light on the sculptures). If you love architecture, please walk outside to see the Protestant temple and museum of Arts, or maybe the other directions to loose yourself in the small pavements streets near the castles. It could be in direction of Adam's house too... Right from the gallery is the other side of the Art museum and a garden with a cluster. nice place to picnic with children. ( games near the library)

A must see in Angers. A collection of scruptures of local artist and others. In a very nice building with excellent lighting and quiteness. Choose the right timing, early in the morning. Efficient and friendly staff.

While most people visit Angers to tour the city's imposing medieval fortress containing magnificent 14th century tapestries that depict the Apocalypse, Angers has several other notable sites worth visiting. One of those, located only a few blocks from the famous fortress, that I happened upon is the Galerie David d'Angers, a museum of works by one of Angers' most illustrious native sons. David d'Angers was among the most popular sculptors of the first half of the 19th century, and his heroic statues, busts, and monuments are found in many museums (such as the Louvre) and historic sites (such as Paris' Pere Lachaise cemetery). The plaster casts of his most famous works are displayed within the ruins of the 13th century abbey church of Toussaint. Because the roof and portions of the walls were missing, they have been replaced with steel and glass, creating a dramatic juxtaposition of Gothic and modern architecture and flooding the interior with light. While the sculptural artwork is worth the visit to this museum, the fact that they are displayed in such a dramatic setting greatly enhances the experience

C'est une galerie intéressante pour ses nombreuses sculptures. J'ai été intéressé mais pas bouleversé par ce que j'ai vu. En outre le prix d'entrée est un peu élevé.

Très beau musée, installé dans l'ancienne église abbatiale.Il présente des oeuvres du célèbre artiste David d'Angers.On peut y voir des plâtres d'atelier qui révèlent le travail du sculpteur.Sont également exposés des dessins, des esquisses ainsi que des sculptures en marbre et en bronze.

Très bien situé, au cœur de la ville, près du Château. Le bâtiment est magnifique, mélangeant l'ancien et le moderne. La toiture verrière est spectaculaire. A l'intérieur les grandes statues sont impressionnantes. A voir sans faute pour découvrir Angers.

Beeldhouwer David heeft zijn stad een geweldige verzameling beelden nagelaten. Vooral de bustes zijn indrukwekkend mooi. Een schitterende parel in Angers.

Un petit périple dans la jolie ville d'Angers ,et chemin faisant , une visite de cette galerie , avec du personnel conciliant , vu l'heure de notre passage !.C'était pratiquement l'heure de fermeture te nous avons contemplé ces magnifiques sculptures ,admiré la galeries des bustes au premier étage , écouté les commentaires sur les quelques bustes disposant de ce système audio .Un bien bon moment artistique !
