The artwork/paintings on the walls are beautiful. People are not allowed inside. but one can look from the doors and take pics.

The ceiling in here is just beautiful. You cannot go into the room, but you see it from the ground floor and then from the second floor while on the tour. Be sure to get photos of the ceiling and the altar too.

The Chapel is nice, but the story of the megalomaniac king and his behavior in the Chapel is the best part. Make sure you get the audio guide for free at the entrance of Versailles.

Sheer opulence in white and gold - that's the scene that greets the visitor when standing behind a barrier and peering into the ground floor of the chapel. But it's only an introduction to the rest of a palace worthy of the King of France. Naturally, the main focus of the chapel is the altar, embellished with gilded bronze. The carved angels by van Gleve above and to each side of the altar are easy enough to see. But you'll need a telephoto lens or binoculars to make out clearly the bas relief of Christ lying dead in the lap of his mother at the altar's base. Sculpted reliefs are everywhere - on the walls, the walls of the pillars, and on the altars of the side isles. The king only occasionally sat in the nave, spending more time in the upstairs royal gallery that faced the altar and had a commanding view of the chapel. Speaking of up, don't forget to check out the vividly-painted ceiling which portrays a scene from heaven with God surrounded by angels. This was very much meant to reinforce the idea that the selection of the king was a divine one. Much as this is a stunning chapel, I would have given this attraction a rating of five out of five had it been included as part of general admission. Lesson - if you can get a group together, book a guided tour of chapel...I wish I had.

I guess when you house is this big that you chapel needs to be huge in comparison sort of a scale in size thing as big as a lot of churches

Very grand, and great photo op! Feels like you're stepping back into history when you're here! Take the time to check it out!

if only I could have gotten married here. it is well worth paying the extra for the tour of the chapel and private rooms.

One can imagine kings attending prayer in the upper gallery here. It is the first "room" we saw inside the Chateau of Versailles.

You get two views of the chapel from open doorways on the first and second levels. What little you can see looks really nice. It's a rather large chapel, but the inside is not part of the general tour. I understand you may purchase a private guided tour of the chapel. Disappointed!

Very impressive, but you can only see it from the entrance, because there is no access to it. It compliments the visit to the chateau with the hall of mirrors.
