Having spent a few days already in Bordeaux and a good part of my holidays in Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and the US visiting wineries in their respective parts of the world, I was truly blown away by the experience offered by Ogier. My visit took place on the 20th Sept, which was ostensibly some kind of Grenache Appreciation day. Ogier organized a free visit (free is always good...but sometimes it comes with low expectations) for visitors which we joined as we happened to be in Chateauneuf-du-Pape at the time and it seemed like something better to do than hang around in a cafe. Anne, our tour guide started us off in a little garden separated into four parts with four different varientals being grown: Grenache, Syrah, Mouvedre and Cinsaut. We were each given a pair of cutters and a basket to cut bunches of grapes from each vine. We of course sampled the grapes as we plucked and they were really sweet. After that, the grapes we cut were pressed and we got to taste the resulting juice (including leaves and stems). Following this, we were taken on a tour of the vats and the wine making process, even tasting wine directly from a particular vat. This is something I have never been allowed to do before. Even the usual wine tasting at the end of the tour was unique. They had lined up wines from the same year and all made from Grenache but from different terroirs (or soils). The aim was to show us how the soil impacted the flavour and character of the wine. Very enlightening and I was hugely impressed not just with Ogier's wines but also Anne, the lady who kept us all entertained for almost 1.5 hrs as she took us on a tour.If I had space in my trunk, I would have taken away a few cases of their great Chateauneuf du Pape wine, not just because it was a great tour, but because they truly have a great product.

Very educational tour of the winesin this region. And the wines are delicious! They are mostly Grenache based but also heavy on Syrah. I can't wait to drink the wine I bought!

Good wine, good presentation and most of all we had a wonderul girl staying in the counter! And as a little notice, the label of their l'oratoire chateauneuf-du-pape-wine is the most beautiful design. :)

The most informative and enjoyable one hour in a winery as can be seen from the attached Picture:):)

This was by far the most educational session I have had on all of the aspects that impact on the taste and quality of wine. Anne was absolutely engaging and her passion for and knowledge of wine is unparalleled. There were five of us and she went out of her way to accommodate us and give a remarkable session of information and tasting. We tried several wine tasting venues and she was head and shoulders above the rest. If you want to know about wine, this is a must-do visit.

Excellent wine tasting at this negociant/producer. Knowledgable staff gave an informative tutored tasting. They were also extremely obliging in arranging shipping of the wines we purchased. It clearly helps that the wines they sell are top notch CDR and CDP, but nonetheless the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere is superior to many tastings we have sampled.

We were booked on to an 11am private tour and tasting (Degustation) The hostess was extremely friendly and answered all our thousand questions!!The Chateau was great to tour and learn more about. The hostess even offered to take photos of us during our tour. We started by learning about the 4 types of soil (terroir) and then walked inside to see how it all made and stored. We then tasted 4 wines and even learnt how to properly taste wine. It was an amazing experience and we purchased 3 gorgeous wines to drink at home and remember this amazing experience. The hostess certainly made the experience memorable and we will be coming back for sure!!

By far the most informative tour I've had since I started wine tasting. Anne was surely the most knowledgeable guide I've had thus far. I'm sure there are others but they didn't share as much as Anne did -- from soil to spitting, though I didn't do much spitting -- the wine was much too good to waste. I learned so much at Ogier and highly recommend it. I will definitely plan a return visit!

I love Chateauneuf du Pape wines, but I think I tasted the best at Ogier. We had a guided tour with Anne, who was so enthusiastic and happy to share all the abundance of knowlegde that she had about wines in general, and Ogier wines in special to a group of 13 ladies. Some of us wine-amatours, others wine professionals, but she managed to reach out and make us all interested and included. We tasted 4 wines grown on different terroirs, this was really an eyeopener to how different the wine tasted just with different soil. If you get a chance, and want to learn more about this fantastic wine district, stop at Ogier, and if you get Anne as your guide you know that you are in for a treat.

We had a lovely visit to Ogier. Fanny was a fantastic guide and we enjoyed comparing the wines of the different terroirs. Definitely recommend a visit if you're in the region - make sure you make an appointment to avoid being disappointed.
