Interesting your but the highlight is the tasting room. Oh so many yummy flavors to try. Make sure to bring some home it is only available at one place in the states.

Hello, Thank you for your comment about the Cassissium. Further to your review, we would like to add that our museum is dedicated to blackcurrant liqueur and its history. You must have us confused with another museum about sparkling wines and Burgundy wines which is nearby. Kind regards,

The tour was a fairly informative one and brought us through the process of making Cassis de Creme, a drink which I have never developed a taste for unfortunately. The information and background on the common blackcurrant is extensive and worth spending some time on. I was however, disappointed to find out that the blackcurrant only lends flavour and colour to syrup. The addition of pure alcohol and one third by weight of sugar is what gives it the kick and sickly sweet taste. I had imagined all along that the sweetness and alcohol came from fermenting of dessicated blackcurrants but apparently I was very wrong. The folks at the Cassissium are friendly and speak a bit of English. I found the tour more interesting than the tasting but thats just me. There is a tasting of many different types of liquors produced by them and its not just restricted to blackcurrants. There is also apple, etc...Found the price of the tour a bit expensive though.

Really easy to find as soon as you get to Nuits-St-George as there are signs everywhere. We found the tour easy to follow on the audio player and we were able to ask lots of questions. The tasting was by far the best part, if you love trying different flavours and love liqueurs, you'll be in safe hands, I think we could have tried all 47 flavours if we'd had the time! Great gifts to take home too!

We would never have found this but for tourist office. Well worth a visit if interested in wine. They also have a huge selection of Burgundy at reasonable prices

Dear vPraag, We would like to thank you for your review and your visit to Le Cassissium. We just wanted to add some details to your comment. We understood that you were looking for wine tasting and we are indeed not a wine producer but a liqueur producer. Burgundy is well known worldwide for its wines but there are many other specialities: gingerbread, mustard and blackcurrant liqueur just to name a few. They are part of Burgundy culture as well. The museum is about blackcurrant and describes the cultivation, all the properties, the medicinal purposes and people enjoy discovering this other part of Burgundy. We would also like to mention that we are not forcing anyone to drink or trying to get anyone drunk. We hope you enjoyed your tour in Burgundy and that you got to visit some wine cellars which were more suitable to your wishes.

We have visited the cassissium numerous times and done the tour on several of these visits. Ok the bouncing cartoon blackberry is a little irritating but the tour is fascinating and the tasting at the end excellent. Also the tour guides are knowledgeable and patient which always helps

Wow, what a great attraction. We visited Vedrenne Le Cassissium and certainly it met our expectation. We visited the museum which was was very informative even if your language is English. The factory and production area was also interesting and an audio guide was provided. We really enjoyed the Tasting and we were give a one on one tasting with a very knowledgeable male guide. we're were amazed at the amount of flavours of liqueurs that were produced. This attraction is well worth a visit. Youu will not be disappointed.

The museum itself is very interesting. We didn't take the guided tour, but had an audio guide given to us at the beginning (available in many languages). The fun part was you could stay as long as you wanted. No hustling along quickly. As you go through the museum you see numbers that correspond to the audio guide, explaining what the thing is or does. They also have a small movie theatre in the middle of the museum. One of the employees goes around the museum asking if you would like to see it about 10-15min before the movie starts. We only waited about 2min in front of the entrance to the theatre. Once you're finished with the museum there is a tasting bar at the end, which we definitely had fun at. There was a bus full of tourists that had come to the tasting bar and we had a lot of laughs. I definitely recommend tasting the Apple and Chestnut liquor! At the end you go through the shop of the museum, which sells anything from mustards to liqueurs. All in all a fun way to spend a couple hours, especially on a rainy day.

Who knew that an entire museum could be devoted to the black currant and a liqueur made from it? Our visit consisted of a visit to the museum and a guided tour of the cassis production plant, and concluded with a tasting. An audio guide in English is available, but is useful only on the factory tour, not in the museum. The museum features a collection of advertisements for cassis through the years and anecdotal information about the medicinal value of black currants, as well as information about growing black currants. We hung out in the museum (which is pretty small) for nearly an hour waiting for the tour to start. One of the employees conducts the tour, but only in French; stations throughout the factory are numbered and correspond to sections of the audio tour. However, not all portions of the tour have corresponding English audio (so we missed a lot of information, particularly at the start of the tour). The tour wraps up with a tasting of cassis and numerous other liqueurs made by the company. A gift shop sells a variety of liqueurs and a few related items such as black currant jam and candy.
