Had a lovely skiing holiday based at a hotel in Horny Smokevic that was in easy reach of local ski runs via short train journeys. We used the runs at Tatranska Lomnica that were well organised and the snow conditions were excellent. Stayed in this area before during the spring of 2012 that was equally enjoyable for mountain hiking with plenty of beautiful spring flowers and flowing streams of flowing melt water. Whilst there was still snow on the ground in many places, it was warm enough to be walking around in t-shirts that was unexpected but nice.

About as unspolied as it is possible to get in Europe. The people are so friendly and keen to show of the sights

The resorts here have had a lot of investment over the years and the bigger ones such as Jasna, Lominica, Bachledova and Strbske Pleso offer really good skiing. Snow is virtually guaranteed as there are low temperatures from November and very good snow making systems at these resorts. The only thing I would warn about is that it can get very busy the 2 weeks after Christmas.

Most of the vistors of the NP High Tatras visit the southern part of it, the settlements of Strbske pleso, Stary Smokovec or Tatranska Lomnica. The hiking paths leading from the south are also quite crowded during the summer season. I recommend visiting the northern valleys of the Slovak High Tatras, which are very beautiful, the damage caused by the storm in 2004 is not as huge as on the southern side, and you meet very few hikers here. If you like hiking in remote areas, try the valleys Zadne Medodoly, Javorova dolina or Bielovodska dolina. If you do so, think of an early start, because these valleys are quite long.

Lomnický peak (in Slovak: Lomnický štít) is the second highest mountain peak in the High Tatras mountains (2634 m above sealevel). It's connected by cable car (in three stages) from Tatranská Lomnica. Prices are comparable to the cable cars in the Alps.

Like this place for hiking. You can find easy or hard mountain trials. Beautiful views. Beautiful nature.

Beautiful nature and still better services for tourists. It is perfect place for hiking. I recommended to visit this place and stay here at least for 5 days. Start your tour better early in the morning, because the weather is changing here very quickly especially during lunch time and afternoon.

Tatras are magnificent mountains and are accessible for nearly everyone. It is only about choosing the right track and having your camera ready.

Both High&Low Tatras offer Alpine-like scenery, cable-cars to take you up to several different heights, and then you can hike down the ski-slopes, take a scooter or bicycle down. Views are amazing! Just make sure you're always prepared for... rain:)

Following the aftermath of the second disastrous storm of the summer 2014 that distroyed thousands of trees in the park, I took several easy hikes. Even though I could see a lot of damage, which was chilling, there are still sights in the Tatras that are just serene, such as Popradske pleso, and it is so worth taking a hike there!
