This is A brand new museum realized by Renzo Piano architect and summing up the latest technologies to show up science, evolutions, experimental experience . We really enjoyed and especially our daughters of 5 and 7 years . The staff is also helpful and welcoming. Really great.

A must see when visiting Trento with kids. The displays were in Italian and English. The interactive exhibits were fairly easy to understand and well designed. Good museum shop too. A bit of a walk from the town center, but worth it.

The Muse is different to other science museums I've visited and has something for young, old and in between. It covers all aspects of science, nature, from the beginning of time to the present day. Each floor has interactive activities and you can even take your picture and send it as a postcard to yourself. Allow a whole day if you can and make sure you see it all. There's a lovely cafe when you need a break. What a gem for Trento.

Interesting museum in a very cool building designed by famous Italian architect Renzo Piano. Lots of great exhibits and informative displays. Packed with families and kids buzzing around.

We visited the museum as a group. It was an organised private function whereby the museum was open to groups sole exclusivity. Luckily this spared us the long waiting queues claimed by other reviewers. We were shown around in small groups of twenty people, by well prepared and knowledgeable english speaking staff. The museums' architectural design is the work of world famous Renzo Piano. The exhibits are a fusion of scientific and technological philosophy that accentuate the relationship between man and the environment with a particular attention to subjects belonging to the Trentino region. There is an extensive and very interesting exhibit of local fauna too, and a replica of a rain forest.A highly interactive and educational 'must go' for people of all ages, including children.

As a first note, I'd like to advise all willing visitors that Muse is actually a real "star" and visitors number is fixed, so consider you'll have to queue for possibly a long time. Also remember that, if you are based in a Trento hotel, you can get free enter with Guest Trentino Card. You can easily get to Muse by public bus starting from central railway station or by car (but the only parking available is not free); besides, now you can also walk from Trento center, going across new and old local cemetery (dont worry, no zombies!) and passing through the new underpass under the railway. The last is my favourite way to approach the area, because it allows you to admire the whole settling around the Muse, including the new housing complex. Don't forget to give a look to the roadside front of the building, mirroring in the water basin. The interior is quite stunning and full of light, but when you'll get into the main level, you'll be greatly impressed by real-size animals and skeletons floating in the air. This is maybe the strongest exhibit idea of Muse, because all animals are "taxidermized" as to keep their original fur or plume, and I can surely say this makes a GREAT effect on all visitors! This is exactly what they call "edutainment" (education+entertainment). There are also many workshops and projects to involve adults and kids in scientific education, with many young - but very experienced - helpers to give you all information you need. Educational purposes combined with commercial marketing (there is a bookshop of course), hi-tech interactive devices, learning games, fascinating architecture, qualified services... everything you normally find in a scientific museum in Northern Europe, with Muse comes to be also normal in Italy (Northern Italy, of course...). If you have kids with you, Muse is definitively a must, and consider you'll spend maybe the whole day inside! But I found it a very interesting and a pleasant visit too.

This is a stunning visual experience, worth a trip to Trento. Despite scientific weaknesses, nonetheless there is great imagination and profound science philosophy behind the exhibits. It is the result of the Director's visionary mind, an exploration of the labyrinth of human evolution of thought. The building is a box of extraordinary things. Whomever was capable to bring this vision to realisation has to be praised.Imagine when there was no MUSE, and a tourist got stuck in the miserable weather of the bEastern Alps of Italy. Nowhere to go, nothing to do. Now one knows what to do: spend hours visiting MUSE. And the day brightens up. It is a good, family-friendly museum, packed with activities, where one is welcomed by young operators. The shop has some nice stuff, I bought two tee-shirts sporting endangered species. The coffee shop is also nice, given that the architecturally designed surrounding buildings are dreary, lifeless and without any nice place where to go, sit down and eat. One wonders why the visionary philosophy behind MUSE has not been translated in it standing alone amongst trees and water. No, oppressive buildings were built around it, with no shops, no people...a ghost town. I wish the whole ghost place could be transformed in an appendix of MUSE, with...maybe a Science Centre, maybe restaurants tailored to provide us with local goodies (see Eataly in Milan, for example)? "Good food" scientifically proven to do us good? Beauty farms, also based on science? There could be a lot to do to improve, given the presence of MUSE at the heart of this place. What else can I say? Go, visit MUSE, regardless of the weather. It is worth a trip to a generally dormant town, too tidy, too "german" to be italian, and too italian to be german.

This is a must see museum which opened in July 2013 and which requires around 4hrs to visit it in its entirety as it is jam packed with interesting exhibits and info in italian, german, and english (great english). The exhibits are not the typical "behind glass" variety but out in the open so that you can really get close up and see the detail. There are interesting interactive exhibits with screens and push buttons and a whole section is devoted to physics where you can play and experiment with the laws of physics. This is great fun.The stuffed animals, all daringly suspended on cables are a bit off-putting at first, but when you understand how close up and personal you can get there is a deeper understanding and appreciation for the benefits of seeing them in this way. There is great info on the Dolomites/Alpine region, its geology, how the mountains and glaciers were formed, and who lived in those parts. There is also a lovely exhibit about wood, but with minimal info there you should just enjoy the colours, textures, resonance and uses of wood. The section about sustainability is particularly interesting and topical. Some statistics to make you shudder. We found that we needed a break half way as we were so taken with it all that we were exhausted after 2 hours, ... but there is a great little cafe for a good coffee and a sandwich. After some replenishment, you can go back in and carry on. There is also a bathroom on every floor with super facilities. This is a top class museum housed in the most exquisite building. Compliments to all those that put this place together.
