Even though this is a very easy ferrata and can be done even without the equipment, it offers great views and a nice trip. If you're a beginner you can do it to get used with the equipment.Ahh, and you'll pass under two waterfalls - definitely a must do :).It is easy accessible from Fiames - stop at the second parking on the left, as you come from Cortina and pass camping Olympia. At the top there is a belvedere point, where you can make an enjoyable picnic. Altogether, a relaxation day in the nature

This location is within easy walking distance of Fiames and the Camping Olimpia site. I often take groups there to introduce them to vie ferrate in order to get them used to using the equipment. There are three VFs along the route but I usually stick to Barbara and Dailati (excuse spelling). In summer these can be completed without the use of specialist equipment by those experienced and confident enough, but there is a tricky traverse across a the top of a small cliff so I'd always take the kit with me. The waterfalls never fail to impress and I can't wait to visit during winter.

the "fanes waterfall" tour is a classic for this area, it can be done also with kids, actually there are 2 parts where you can walk under the 2 main waterfalls since there are 2 small iron ways (ferrate) that can be done also by kids from 7-8 years old, if you are properly equipped. The interesting thing about this trip, is that you can decide,depending on the time you have, how much you want to see.For the first waterfall, it took simply less than on hour (one way) and you don't need any particular equipment, to visit all the waterfalls, you need around 2.5 hours. If you want to do the 2 iron ways, allow around 4 hours. If you are really brave and you want to arrive at the Fanes valley (and it's the most amazing internal valley of the dolomites in my humble opinion) then it's around 6 hours.To arrive, from Cortina goes to Fanes (SS 51, Km 109) and then after another Km turn left for "val di fanes" there's a parking at the end of the road.from here follow the paved road, at the first crossroad turn left (follow path n°10), if you turn right you'll go to a great picnic area (5 minutes) or you will arrive after 40 minutes to a panoramic viewpoint. from there you have either to go back, or be properly equipped to reach the first iron way.so let's turn left.. in around 40 minutes or less, following an easy trail, you'll arrive at the Outo bridge, with an incredible view. after few meters there's a pic nic area.I suggest to follow the path on the right, it's the beginning of the first iron way, but you can reach the first waterfall, even if you are not equipped, it's not dangerous if you are cautious, just pay attention at the slippery rocks near the waterfall.if you are not equipped, then you HAVE to turn back and return to the picknick area. If you have the standard equipments for iron roads, you will enjoy a small "ferrata" of around 40 minutes that will take you to another waterfall, and then will take you back to the first picnic area.So this is the first part.. if you are tired, you can simply eat your sandwiches and go back home.But I really suggest to keep going, after the picnic area keep right, you will have to walk for 50 meters and then you will find another sign for the "sentiero delle cascate e dei canyon" go for it... keep your kids near you because the first part is a steep path even if the sight view is breathless. After the first part, the path is in the woods and it's quite easy.you will see several waterfalls, at the end you can turn left and go back to cortina from an easy path, or turn right and arrive to the last waterfall, there is another iron way, very short but you must be equipped, if you want to cross the waterfall.If you are really brave you can keep going and arrive to the fanes valley but it's another 2 hours and you still need to do 400meters of elevation.but it's really worth, my suggestion is to book a room in one of the 2 mountain dews in the valley of fanes, and then continue your journey the day after either going to capanna alpina (great path) or down on the other valley.In any case this trail is great because you can decide how long you wanna walk, depending on your skills or if you have small kids with you.

A circa 5 km a nord di Cortina, poco dopo Fiames, è situato l'ingresso, con parcheggio, del Parco delle Dolomiti d'Ampezzo, da cui parte il sentiero n. 10 che, dapprima costeggiando il Torrente Bòite, porta alle cascate superando con Ponte Outo l'impressionante orrido, un profondissimo canyon formatosi alla conflluenza del Rio Travenanzes con il Rio di Fanes. Se si segue il largo sentiero la passeggiata è tranquilla, quasi pianeggiante e priva della ben che minima difficoltà, perfetta anche per i bambini. Le cascate - quella più bassa e quella successiva, più distante - sono raggiungibili e addirittura ci si può passare sotto, ma questi tratti sono molto impegnativi, sia "alpinisticamente" con passaggi di ferrata, sia perché resi scivolosi dall'acqua e dai vapori. Meglio dunque ammirarle a debita distanza, senza peraltro perdere nulla della loro spettacolarità. La vegetazione è lussureggiante, l'ambiente intatto e ricchissimo di acqua, le cime dolomitiche severe, con le tonalità rosate del Col Rosà (2166 m). Quasi all'inizio del percorso, lasciato il T. Bòite, un bivio a destra, opportunamente segnalato, conduce al belvedere sulla prima cascata, meta modesta ma già di per sè appagante. Gita da non perdere.

Si tratta di un'escursione altamente panoramica e spettacolare, seppure si sviluppi in forre e valli profonde. Il percorso conduce alla confluenza delle valli di Fanes, Travenanzes e Ra Vales, a nord di Cortina d'Ampezzo, collegando alcuni siti di grandiosa imponenza paesaggistica e idrogeologica. I due passaggi sotto le cascate di Fanes sono davvero spettacolari.Il percorso è dotato di diversi punti di vista panoramici e di tratti attrezzati con funi metalliche nei punti più esposti e delicati. L'anello si può compiere in due sensi: io consiglio di percorrerlo in senso antiorario.

fatica per arrivare, ma poi lo spettacolo e' quello che ci si aspetta. Qualcosa di molto bello in una natura incontaminata.

La cascata si trova al termine della Val Tavenanzes, valle glaciale lunga 10km disposta da nord a sud e compresa fra le Tofane ad est ed i gruppi delle Cime di Lagazuoi, Fanes, Cavallo e Furcia Rossa ad ovest.La valle è percorsa dal torrente Rio Travenanzes che nasce da una sorgente e da ruscelli nella testata della valle e va a formare le cascate in un profondo canyon.Uno spettacolo della natura che non ha nulla da invidiare ai blasonati parchi americani yosemite ed affini.Ci sono vari sentieri più o meno impegnativi per raggiungere i belvedere da cui ammirare la cascata e per i più temerari e ben attrezzati è anche possibile passare alle sue spalle sotto il potente getto d'acqua.Consigliato.

Anche per bambini ma a mio parere meglio se attrezzati. Il sentiero passa sotto le cascate. Molto suggestivo.

Per chi vuole iniziare ad avvicinarsi al mondo delle ferrate suggerisco questa gita ad anello, breve e divertente, passando proprio dietro una spettacolare cascata (qualche schizzo d'acqua al massimo, non serve l'impermeabile!), affrontando piccole paretine e strapiombi (sempre in sicurezza), attraversando un torrente sul ponticello-passatoia e finendo nel bosco per il meritato pranzo al sacco! 1h-1h30' max
