I decided to visit this town after reading some suggestions on Trip Advisor and I am verry happy that I went there. I took the bus from Bergamo bus station and when I was coming back - the bus to Albino and then a tram to Bergamo. The town doesn't look very interesting when you get off the bus at the main station. But climb up and you will find some beautiful buildings with fascinating facades. And the big surprise is in the town centre - a tower with a picturesque clock, beatiful church and some other buildings worth to look at. And I loved the paintings on the walls, especially the skeletons! It was very very quiet as I visited Clusone in the early afternoon,I presume it becomes even nicer in the evening.

A short trip from Bergamo, the town offers a nice stroll in narrow passages with specialty stores, gelateria, pasticceria and other attractions. We went on a short hike with beautiful view of Lago d'iseo and the surrounding mountains. It was a very refreshing trip away from the city (Bergamo).

The drive from Bergamo past little towns like Parre is stunning. Market day in Clusone is Monday and they are really big. The town has meandering winding cobble streets and is something out of a picture book. Lots of quality shops and cafes. Parking is at a premium but on Market day there is a big parking area at one side of town. If you have time, take a drive to "lovers leap", an area aligned to story of Romeo n Juliette. It is very picturesque with a very long valley at the peak where lovers are said to have leapt.

Very beautiful town with a lovely square. Calm and quiet place. Cute shops and nice people. The cafe at the square is worth mentioning.

Reaching Clusone is not very difficult. Go to Bergamo's central bus station and ask for a "diretto" which is the direct bus to Clusone. (otherwise you can take the tram (trenino) to Albino and a bus from Albino to Clusone. Tickets are available either at any Tabachaio (signed with a capital T) or at the bus station (don't forget to buy your return tickets). Otherwise one can easily drive from Bergamo to Clusone. Clusone is a not very bif village (for the italian standards). Actually, it is a small diamont. It has a medieval air, a very interesting architecture, norrow streets, magnificent churches, astoning facades (murals) and a great view of the mountains. One can also find small places for coffee, pizza, gelato etcWe spent half a day there and we enjoyed every minute of it.

The town is very small, but the historic center is very nice and "medieval", but the best part is the wonderful mountains around (e.g.just go to the Bivacco Città di Clusone in two hours hiking)

I found a lot of hidden corners with a lot of interesting things to see. The clock in the main square, the cycle of frescoes in the small church close tho the dome and the "Danza macabra" (macabre dance) are superb.

During my summer visit to Italy this year, an Italian friend took me to Clusone one afternoon. I have seen road signs of this place before but I never imagined the place to be incredibly old and perfectly beautiful! I cannot forget how I felt when I saw this magnificent clock tower and the Basilica Di Santa Maria Assunta where the centuries old Triumph of Death fresco can be found . I felt like I went back through time! Waling along the winding hilly streets, small shops and cafes, I cannot have enough of this place. And sitting outside the basilica where you can see a grand view of the surrounding mountains, ah I want to put time to a halt. How can there be a place so grand, so beautiful!?! Certainly, I'm not the only one who have been to Clusone to have reacted this way.....
