The landshuter Hochzeit is a very interesting event which takes place every four years. The old town is full with people of different ages wearing nice, colourfull costumes. "halloooooo" in maybe four years again :-)

Wonderful re-enactment of 15th century wedding of Landshut nobleman and Polish princess. Procession through Altstadt and Neustadt. Paid seats, but standing room too if you get there early.

The Landshuter Hochzeit Fest is a celebration of a wedding in 1475. Held every four years in the centre of Landshut, over four week-ends. As the weather was perfect there must have been more than 100,000 visitors on 14th July.Whilst the procession through the streets was free, a better choice is the reserved seating areas which must be paid for. We booked in early February and many of the seats had already been sold. This festival is highly recommended, more information on the official website at http://www.landshuter-hochzeit.de/en/the-festival.htmlAfter the procession, it is always a good idea to follow the crowds along the river Isar to the festival grounds where there is plenty to see, eat and drink.More than 2,400 people take part, and all must have long hair, no jewellery or watches.

We were invited to this event by a friend of mine, living in Landshut. The city is located in Bavaria, some 60 km from Munich. The city itself is really worth of seeing, with well preserved ancient look and atmosphere. More over, each 4th summer (this year, the next one will be in 2017) the great celebrating parade takes place in 4 concecutive weekends. A wooden medieval town is erected in the municipal park area, where thousand or more people live day by day (during weekends, of course) in a medieval way of life. They do not use any modern devices or processes to prepare and eat their food, no mobiles, no eyeglasses, just nothing to disturb the medieval look. Thousands and thousands visitors come and watch the medieval town life. On Sunday they perform a parade march through the main streets in a historical town area, with hudreds of costumed persons of all ages from five to eighty - all of them are exclusively the local citizens, who are honoured to participate in the celebration. We have been in Landshut during the middle age party that happens each 4 years, when a lot of the citzens get dressed as the people from that time and perform a sort of plays, parades and other funny attractions at the streets. To watch the night parties you need to buy tickets in advance, but along the day you can walk around an have funny.

Es gibt nichts vergleichbares.Viele Mittelalterfestivitäten sind Comerz und irgendwie nur Kostümfeste.Nicht so die LA-Hochzeit. Die Landshuter lieben Ihre La-Ho - Alle.Und das spürt man, Gäste aus der ganzen Welt werden sich hier wohlfühlen.Unter der Woche ist ein unbeschreiblicher Flair in der Altstadt auf den Tribünen.Und am Wochenende ist kein Kostümfest, sondern ein come-together von Mitwirkenden der La-Ho mit Leuten, Freunden, die gut unterhalten und genießen wollen.Einfach schön.Tip: Besucht die Altstadt am Samstang und die Burg Trausnitz am Sonntag Vormittag. Und ein teures Ticket für die offiziellen Veranstaltungen ist das Geld wert - bestimmt. Wer keines ergattern konnte, hat trotzdem garantiert Spass und La-Ho Feeling auf dem Zehrplatz.

Während der Landhutser Hochzeit wird die Hochzeit der polnischen Königstochter mit dem Landshuter Herzog Georg dem Reichen gefeiert. Das Fest dauert drei Wochen und bildet eine bezaubernde Atmosphäre des Mittelalters nach. Man trifft hier tolle Leute, und man kann es nicht beschrieben, man muss es erlebt haben. Die nächste Hochzeit findet im Jahr 2017 statt.

Leider sind es immer wieder 4 Jahre die vergehen müssen bis die Landshuter Hochzeit einzug hält die LA. Der Umzug ist sehenwert....nur sollte man schon 2h vor begin vor Ort sein um noch einen einigermassen Platz zu bekommen UND es lohnt sich in die " Neustadt " zu gehen und von dort alles zu betrachten...denn in der " Altstadt " wimmelt es nur so vor lauter Menschen.Und ein wenig Zeit mitbringen um im Lagerleben ein wenig zu verweilen.
