Climbed the Castle Hill early morning, sunshine, cold fresh air, nice view. It was before opening time, just walked around and asked myself why is it built of bricks and not stone? Amyway nice and impressive castle. Next time get inside...

Outside looked like an amazingly preserved medieval castle but the inside has been rebuilt after the war. Very few parts of the interior are authentic. It had some nice tapestries and great views from the top but with no english tour we didn't understand much and felt a little flat. We were not bothered too much as we got in for free with our bavarian palace 14 day visitors pass

This Bavarian castle is worth the visit - if for no other reason than the photographic opportunities. Sweeping views over the town of Landshut and great architectural lines in the castle itself.Entrance to castle was free when we went and the best part was taking the winding path up from the end of town - all paved and built to keep cattle from using it - a very ingenious design and idea! Driving up to the castle is also easy and parking is free.Great food at the little restaurant in the castle, which has outdoor seating on one of the castle terraces.

Ask if they have an English guide. They didn't have any when we were there, and they have next to no info in English at the museum or for the tour. The German guide was quite good but rushed. The tour could have easily taken 60 minutes, but they had to finish it in 45 and were constantly reminding visitors to hurry up and even skip some tapestry rooms, which made it even more difficult to interpret into English. The best things about the castle are the grounds (on a sunny day) and the view, and you don't have to pay to enjoy them.

This is perhaps unfair as the castle is wonderful, as are the grounds. There are animals, beautiful trees and shrubs, a really interesting museum.... Unfortunately we decided to take our grandchildren there on a cloudy day the week before Easter. By the time we got to the top in a bus, the heavens opened. Despite a sign saying lunch available,, the restaurant was closed. Not good enough! It should be open whatever the weather!

While in München, my friends took me to see this Castle down in Landshut, Bavaria, about 1+ hours south of München. You can drive up to it or walk from the town, it was free entrée when we went and a sunny day in April. We had no time to wait for a tour as it was some 1+ hours to wait.Lot to see in the castle itself and the sites form the ramparts are great,.You can see that St.Martin's Church in Landshut which has the tallest Steeple in the world! made of only all Brick, so when you stand on the rampart of the Castle walls, the steeple is still higher as you will see in one of the photo's.It is defiantly worth a visit if you happen to be in the area.I think that they don't get may tourists other than Locals from the area.Capt.Harry

I visited Trausnitz Castle during the Ritter Festival in September and had the most amazing experience. Apart from a castle in good shape, with beautiful furniture and two interesting exhibitions, the place also featured a lot of atractions, from fights to workshops and puppet-plays for the little ones. Also, it has an amazing view over the city.

Attended the annual Ritter Festival in September and it was absolutely amazing. I felt as if I had been transported back to the middle ages.Trausnitz is the perfect backdrop for the music, food, and events depicting such an event.

The view from Trausnitz issuperb . The restauant served at that time only Flammenkuchen, but that was very good. Inside the museum is very small but nice, with a Wunderkammer, a croom of miracles, which include all the things a rich person has horded and can show to others. The castle itself can only be seen with a tour. Our guide was difficult to understand (we speak German, as we are from Holland), we had a discription in English but the two stories were not the same...

Very interesting but very small, just two rooms, the expositions of the duke's collection of animals, strange things from all over the world. The castle is quite empty, there aren't fresco's and the furnitures so not a lot to see. Very nice the view of the city from the top of the tower
