Pylos is a great town, rich in very important Greek history. It's not over-run by tourists, on the quiet side. There are wonderful seaside restaurants and cafe's that also offer beautiful views. You may see someone walk down the staircase that leads into the water to go for a swim. Pylos is a central location. You can stay in the town and drive to several nearby sites like Methoni, Voidokoilia Beach, Ancient Messini...

Pylos Castle is definitely worth a visit if you are anywhere near the region,Nice walk for approx 1-2 hours, especially in the late afternoon with the sun starting to set.remember to take your camera, Main square with lot of traditional cafes. Worth a visit.

it is a must if you go in Pylos the view from the top of the castle is unique with the stones and the island that is closing the Navarino bay. there is a movie they play inside the castle describing the Navarino fiht. very interesting.

This stronghold was used to jail fighting Maniots and is very stout defensively. There is a good film shown about the Battle of Navarino Bay and a little museum showing finds from the sea. It is a lovely site to wander around and enjoy the views from the battlements.

The wall promenade offers beautiful views to the Navarino bay and the town of Pylos.Included in the price is a slide show that explains and illustrates the naval battle at Navarino in 1827, where the Turkish fleet defeat cemented the Greek independance The compound includes also an art museum.

Interesting little museum and great views, can be seen in one to two hours. An easy ten minute walk uphill from the center of Pylos

This fortress was built in 1573 and is still very impressive. Located in the small harbour of Pylos and is quite the place for a short visit.

Very well preserved it's the best one in this castle area. There's an entrance fee but it' s worth.There's also a video that explains the naval battle that took place in this sea.Take your take to wonder around.Don't miss it.
