If you are within 200-miles of this part of Greece, you must visit Voidokilia Beach! This is the best beach on the planet! While on the beach, you can escape the sun by taking a short and easy hike up the hillside to Nestor's Cave. Our high school son, and self-proclaimed tour guide taught us that according to legend, this cave is where Hermes hid the cattle stolen from Apollo. Just wonderful. Another short, and easy hike up from Nestor's Cave, and you reach the top of the hill, and stand in the ruins of a thirteenth-century Frankish castle. The views are breathtaking.

This is a large and deep cave, where Hermes hide the oxes he stole from his brother Apollo according to the myth (giving Voidokilia beach its name, because in Greek "voidi" is the ox and "kilia" is belly).You need 20' to climb up there from the beach, not very easy, but worth it for the view!

Nestor's Cave is on the slopes of the medieval castle of Navarino above one of the finest beaches in Greece at Voidokoilia Bay. The Roman traveller Pausanias identified it already in the 2nd c. A.D. as the cave in which Homer's King Nestor kept his cattle.

This is really just a natural cave, which contains relatively little of interest apart from the odd bad and the pool at the back. It is poorly lit so worth taking a torch up there. Legend has it that the ancient King Nestor kept his cattle in this cave, though there's no indication of this in the cave itself. From here you get good views of the Voidokilia bay although it is much better to continue up the hill to the Paliokastro (the castle itself) where the views are magnificent.

Nach Besuch des Paleokastro kamen wir auf dem Rückweg zum Parkplatz an der Höhle vorbei und das war nochmals ein besonderes Erlebnis. Der Reiseführer hatte die Höhle als "wenig ansehnlich" beschrieben, aber das liegt wohl im Auge des Betrachters...für uns war es, nach dem hellen Tageslicht draußen, ein kleines Abenteuer in die dunkle Höhle hineinzugehen, um ihre Größe zu ermessen. Aus meiner Sicht: sehenswert!

Довольно живописное место. На вершине находится Старый замок (Paleocastro). Сама пещера довольно заурядная, ничего интересного внутри нет. Красивые виды на закате.

Da qui si godo di uno splendido panorama.È possibile continuare a salire, per giungere al Neocastro, il vecchio castello di navarino, anch'esso molto interessante, che offre delle stupende vedute.

Underbar mysig liten hamnstad. Om ni har varit i Nice så känner ni lätt igen det franska tempot och hustyperna och den avslappnade miljön. Staden känns lätt igen på den lilla plazan som är i mitten av staden, små mysiga caféer är belägna runt om. Man har fullt med små butiker och all slags shopping bredvid plazan. Underbara hotell är belägna med utsikten förståss i åtanke, för den är verkligen underbar! Lyx-yachterna ligger på rad i hamnen och inbjuder till promenad!
