what it is with these dragons. No human has ever really seen one, still we find them all over the place. Also Hercules doesn't really fit there. If you look more closely at his face, you might this it is Stalin...

The Lindwurn is a part of Klagenfurt's history and, in conjunction with the statue of the Empress Maria Therese, dominates the "New Platz" in the city.

So, this is a quite big sculpture of a man battling with a dragon at one of the main squares in Klagenfurt (at Neuer Platz). It looks nice, the square is lovely, at the other end of the square there's the sculpture of the former Habsburg empire queen Maria Teresia.

The Lindwurm was a dragon that was said to eat the people living in the area. My thought is that he / she (it) was probably innocent. Anyway the poor creature was eventually slain and is now folklore. The lindwurm can be found on Neuer Platz which is the main square in Klagenfurt. Also in the square is a statue of Maria Theresa Habsburg.

The dragon fountain is situated in the middle of quiet square in a very heart of Klagenfurt city. There are a lot of places to sit and relax. Dragon is the symbol of the city comes from a legend: the Lindwurm terrible dragon that lived in the swamps fed cows and young girls, until he was caught by cunning out of the murky waters and killed by a group of brave men who founded here Klagenfurt. Worth a visit!.

Situated in a nice big square. Not too many pigeons. Nice Place to sit and relax and watch the world walking by.Lots of seating in shaded areas. the monument was being restored . pity about the advertising on the hoarding.
