The square is right downtown with the fountain in the middle. Underneath is a parking house. From the square you walk along the pedestrian zone towards the church, or do shopping or window shopping. There are plenty of options to eat as well. We walked right through until we got to the city mall, called "City Arkaden".

In the middle of Klagenfurt you will find the “Lindwurm” (built around 1590), Klagenfurt’s heraldic animal, originally a bipedal dragon, which glides past the city tower. It commemorates the origins of the city as told in the legend of its foundation (German “Furt der Klage(n)” or “ford of laments”). The fountain with its “monster”, statue of Hercules and Renaissance railing was completed in 1636. Especially in the evening when there is snow and the monument is lit, it is absolutely a unique experience.

Пройти мимо этого фонтана, если вы оказались в столице Каринтии не получится, он просто доминирует в центре и притягивает к себе. Дракон выглядит не канонически, совсем не так как его представляешь, так что не проходите мимо.

Für mich ist es einfach ein Platz wo ich mich gerne setze um meine Müden Füße nach einen ausgibigen Stadtpummel zu entspannen,ich fahr schon mal einfach so ohne grund zum Lindwurm um einfach auf einer der vielen Bänken einfach in die Sonne zu schaun,und mit meinen kleinen Neffen unseren Lindwurm zu bewundern,kann diesen Platz jedem empfehlen.

Also das ist ja mal ein tolles Wahrzeichen. Mitten im Zentrum steht diese Skulptur von einem Drachen und Herkules. Ich dachte mir "toll". Wir machten ein paar Alibi-Fotos und gingen dann weiter. FYI: Ich fand Klagenfurt furchtbar langweilig.
