This place is perfect, not only do they have the most incredible things that were used over a hundred years ago, pero they are also 100% functional! Also the tourguides are great and very knowledgeable, which makes this a great place to visit.

it's an exceptional place to learn about the Austrian, German and Swiss settlers. Very tidy and the machinery and houseware are beautiful and nostalgic.

The Museum is a delight for all the history and culture fascinated people! The owner was kind enough to explain things in English sometimes and everything in the museum has a description written in English which makes it easy for us " 0 Spanish speaking" people. It's a must visit!!

At this wonderful Museum, it is possible a cultural dip and to appreciate all that which formed part of the colonization of this region. Many of those things as instruments, accessories, tools, machinery, furniture, and many more, they allow to get an idea of what was the beginning of the settlement in this region of the South of Chile. A place that you must visit!

REally a good overview of what it must have been like living in Chile many years ago. The man who was showing off all the farm equipment was obviously quite proud of his museum and made it a special place for us.

After driving from Puerto Varas to Nueva Braunau, a small rural town, and following the road out of the village, in the middle of nowhere on the left side of the road we found a big brown builidng with inscription MUSEO. The sign on the roadside is also well visible, there ia gravel path between high trees leading towards the entrance. The fee is about 5 dollars, well worth to admire the incredible exhibition of articles of the German colonists arrived mid 19th century to the region. We were lucky to get a guided tour by Pedro Felmer, son of the founder of this museum, Antonio Felmer Nikitschek. The tour starts with the photo exhibition of the founding families of the sorrounding region and goes on with incredibly well preserved and extremely varied articles of homes, agriculture and house-keeping, collected through decades from the attics of old families. The exhibition leads to a first floor, where also carriages of 150 years ago are found, they were lifted in pieces and assembled in situ. There is also a bar, whwre you can get drinks, coffee and typical local cake (kuchen). If you are in the region, visit this place by all means, it will be a pleasant surprise.

Our visit was far better than expected. Their collosal collection of items strange and ordinary in the lives of German immigrants in Chile was very interesting. The grounds and flora are very attractive too.

We went on the recommendations of previous TA reviewers and it was definitely worth the visit. Follow the V50 from Puerto Varas to Nueva Brenau, then about 500m beyond the end of the town, turn sharp left. There is a huge sign on the edge of the road saying Museo which you can't miss. The family museum has been in the same family since around 1860 and is filled with their farm and house tools, kitchen equipment etc. The current generation (we had the son of the creator of the museum who was able to speak a bit of English) maintains the dairy farm in conjunction with the museum. They were from Austria, not German as previously stated, and their deprivations at beginning a life from scratch was inspiring to see what they did and how they made everything they needed including wooden screws made from scratch. Definitely worth a visit and the barn and adjoining houses were very attractive, in pleasant grounds. The museum is over two floors but the entry (lower) floor is wheelchair accessible but there is no lift to the second floor.
