Saltos del Petrohue is located at the Parque Nacional V.P.Rosales (please see my review of this park and related pictures) and is one of its main attractions. Buses of tourists (that include us) were hurriedly ushered in to see the Saltos, but it seemed that the Parque has more attractions other than the Saltos. It's a short walk from where the bus driver and our tour guide told us to get off. There is an entrance fee which we did not have to pay (already included in the US$185 excursion fee) as we entered the Park. We had our cameras ready and snapped as many pictures as we wanted of the "saltos" and their surroundings. Wow!wow! wow!

We joined the cruise excursion to different places on that day, Petrohue Falls was one of them. That was a clear sunny day, warm and calm, making the trip to Petrohue Falls more fun. The falls is no Iguacu Falls, but the Volcan Osorno in the background brings out its natural beauty. After purchasing the ticket, there is a nice easy trail leading you to the falls. That was a wonderfull visit. Happy Travelling!

These falls are well worth a visit for about $US3. While they are not Iguassu, they are very interesting because an enormous amount of volcanic rock that makes up the landscape of the area and the falls are dominated by the Osorno Volcano which is very impressive.

I recently visited this National Park and the waterfall which rushes through a narrow volcanic rock canyon formed by eruptions of the Osorno Volcano. Worth visiting if in Puerto Varas. There is also a shop selling a variety of goods for tourists and a snack bar.

This was a terrific place to visit with walkways which got you really close to the falls. I was just on my way back from a hike but it was somewhere you could spend a bit of time
