I was very impressed by the Foto Sady exhibit. You'll see signs leading to it after you get through the entrance. It's a great way to learn about the Bogotazo, an important part of Colombian history.

A large complex filled with beautiful books, and art exhibitions. We were fortunate enough to see a photography exhibition by Sady Gonzalez, a photo journalist who's images of the 1948 revolution was joined by some of his photos of Bogata's elite. It was a sensational exhibition, and I've been googling his images ever since my visit. The place is a tranquil, welcoming oasis, a true community center for Bogata. Highly recommended.

is a good place to find any book has a rather large collection, is a spacious and quiet place; the attention of the staff is not the best but after having the book in hands everything else does not matter.

Take advantage of this library in the heart of historic Bogotá. Close to Plaza Bolivar, the Botero museum, and other wonderful places to check out. The library has an exhibit of black and white photos of Bogotá in the 1930s, 40s and 50s by Foto Sady, a famous photographer from Bogotá. He was the last photographer to photograph Gaitan before he was assassinated on April 9th, 1948 which led to the semi-destruction of Bogotá by rioters protesting his death. The library has great resources and take the elevator to the 5th floor where you get an incredible view of Monserrate and the northern part of the city. Hours 8 am - 8 pm M-Sat and 8 am - 4 pm Sun.

The library complex is enormous, full of intellectual entertainment. There is also a nice cafe Diletto (espresso for 1900). There are computers with (slow) internet and book stalls with special discount prices.

If you think this is only a library, forget about it. You will enter a beautiful gallery with a lot of work of art and big and luminous spaces.

There was an exhibition here by a local photojournalist with historical pictures of Bogota. We really enjoyed this exhibition as well as made use of the free internet.

If you like chamber music, come here. The hall's acoustics are the best in the city and the seats are like sitting in First Class. The library also hosts many fine exhibits in addition to having the largest book collection in the country. Great views of the city on the top level.

This a huge library. Most tourists are not likely to be in Bogota to sit in a library to read but a visit here can be informative. There is an interesting exhibit about the economic ups and downs of Colombia. There are also temporary exhibits. In December of 2013 there was one about the history of the Swiss in Colombia.

With over 1 million books, this is probably the largest museum in Central America. But it is not just about books. It's a lively center of culture and the arts for the community, with a gorgeous concert hall, music rehearsal rooms, a games room, open computers, and many places to meet, read, talk, or just reflect. If you want to get a sense of Bogota's modern culture and its civic pride, come to this library for a visit.
