Utterly spectacular 11km long walkway along the seafront in New Plymouth...

I rode my bike along here, easy and serene. Love that you can stop at a cafe and relax while watching the bird life hover over the ocean. There are markers along the route to let you know how far you've gone. I went out to the 5km mark and returned to town. Fantastic 'whale back bone' shaped bridge on the route too. You can see Mt Taranaki from her on a good weather day.

Excellent for either a short or long walk by the sea on a walkway which cyclists, runner, in-line skaters can share, there really is enough room for everyone. From the port to the Windwand, about 30 minutes, but to continue to Bell Block, allow at least a couple of hours. Not so sure what it would be like in the winter, but certainly in the summer, it's lovely. We have done it twice now.

This is a delightful way to exercise. Lots to see and plenty of people watching too. Great to have a walk like this away from the traffic but with East places to park nearby. New Plymouth is certainly blessed to have this facility

Somewhere to check out if you have a few hours to spare in New Plymouth.Unfortunately for myself I got absolutely soaked 30 minutes so eh check the weather forecast. The bridge is pretty cool. It's meant to be a surf break but looks more like a whale carcass to me.I felt the signposts could be laid out a bit better at the start mind you as not sure if I was on walkway or grounds of some massive factory.

Really well maintained walkway. We didn't walk all of it. Walked half to two thirds. Well used by locals out biking and running. Can be quite narrow with lots of bikes using it.
