A great little place for a quick get away. Skiing is great. Well groomed runs, not crowded, not commercialized. Quaint, quiet, fun.

the chairs are old and slow (3)but with no lineups they are a welcome rest.Same conditions as all local mountains but with far fewer skiers. All runs meet at the main lodge which makes it great for group skiing.Night skiing fri and sat. Small tube hill and snowshoeing are available.Road is gravel for 6km but is kept in good condition. A car wash is a must after a day here.Pick a sunny day,not a more relaxing place to be.

After several trips between Hemlock Valley and other local mountains, I've come to the conclusion that at Hemlock you receive better value for your dollar. We had an excellent day on the slopes, lift lines were bearable, (go to whistler or the north shore for those), Ticket price was acceptable. Resort has basic amenities, if your looking for accommodation it can get tricky. Apart from that all around a decent experience. Parking was not difficult, friendly rental staff helped us out. And I like that the lift operators can slow the chair down for new or learning riders.

We took the kids (ages 14, 11,10) tubing at Hemlock Valley Resort on New Years Day. Their website warns you to be there before noon, or you may end up on a waiting list. We arrived at 10:45 and were on the hill at 11:00. By 11:15 my kids were bored. The runs were very short and fairly slow. Ok for kids younger then 7, but any older than that and they will be dissappointed. The staff at the bottom of the hill were were extremely rude, and were constantly yelling at kids to get out of the way. I know it`s important to clear the run so the next person can start down, but they didn`t have to be so rude about it. Our $46.00 family rate (Taxes included) gave us 2 hours of tubing. We had enough by 12:15 and decided to go for lunch. I stood in line for 30 minutes and made it to 3rd in line to be told that there was no more food available. They were completely sold out our everything and it was only 12:45 in the afternoon. We were able to purchase two sides of french fries for $9.00. I felt sorry for the two Aussie kids having to tell the customers there was no food left. No manager ever showed up to take responsibity. I can`t comment on the skiing, but if your looking for a day of tubing with the kids, go find a park somewhere with a hill in it. A park is free, probably better runs, no rude staff to yell at you, and there`s probably a McDonalds within a 5 minute drive.

We bought our adult kids snow shoe trips at Hemlock as gifts - they returned home raving about the experience. Definitely on the repeat pressie list...a great hit and highly recommended.

Hemlock was our first winter vacation with our ten month old daughter. We decided to visit Hemlock because they had fairly long snow shoeing trails and we could load our daughter up in our carrier and enjoy the outdoors. We chose to stay at a local B&B and walk the few hundred metres to and from the resort.The slopes looked good, even though we never hit them. The snowshoeing trails were well marked and reasonably long. The weather restricted our climb to the higher points of the hillsides. And we were not allowed to go up to the top trail that runs from the top of the chair lift because they don't allow tots on the chair lifts. Keep that in mind if you are traveling with little ones.The restaurant and cafeteria were a bit of a disappointment. They had limited food options and what was there was never made fresh. The morning wraps and muffins were under heat lamps and the bar food was flow in coming and never very hot. We were happy to have a kitchen at our B&B because more than one day of food from here would have been painful.

Hemlock may be a small ski resort (only three chair lifts) but you might find a hidden gem with this resort. There was plenty of snow when we went and not a lot of people. We went snowshoeing in the backcountry, outside the ski boundaries of Hemlock and it was a fantastic trek. There was about 3 meters of fresh powder and we were cutting new trails through pristine wilderness.A lift ticket for the day is only $50 and ski or board rentals are less than $50, so you can ski or board for the whole day for under $100, which is a pretty good value if you need to rent everything.The only downside is that the resort is a little far from anything else, and the road up is windy and becomes gravel halfway through.

Snowboarded for the first time at Hemlock Valley resort outside of Harrison. Long drive from Vancouver. Price was $51 for the day. Smallish hill, similar size to Cypress Mountain. Lifts are very slow. The snow conditions were only average when we rode. Crusty ice below the snow. I could see that this place would be excellent with a fresh snowfall as you can carve through the trees and bushes and some steep drops.
