Off the beaten path so to speak....but once the "bumpy" road ends... it's beyond beautiful. Magnificent views of the cliffs and water. Truly breathtaking.

Literally at the end of a scrap of land, Cape D'Or really is worth a visit. Just outside Advocate Harbour, you take a gravel road upwards until you see the Lighthouse. There are walking paths that take you down to various fenced open spaces where you can see the glory of the Bay of Fundy. The paths are narrow, but easy to navigate. Picnic tables round out the up top experience. Negative was that there was evidence that some folks decided to use the great outdoors as a bathroom which was a bit disgusting to say the least. There is a road that takes you down to the lower lighthouse where there are accommodations and a restaurant. Both were closed when we visited. The highlight of the trip to Cape D'Or were seeing the Dory Rips in their full glory.

We stumbled upon this place. There's a long windy dirt road to get to cape d'or. Worth the drive, bring a camera! The cliffs are stunning! Bring a leash for your dog and kids, it's a long way down. You come to a parking lot and have to walk down a steep hiil to the lighthouse, restaurant and accommodations. The gravity fed stroll down is a delight, the climb back up the hill not so much. I did think I murmured to myself " is this where I'm going to die?". I kid, but it was steep. The restaurant was lovely. My spouse and I had coffee and strawberry rhubarb crisp with vanilla ice-cream. Really tasty. There are also accommodations with a shared common room and variations of rooms, some with a private bathroom and some with a shared washroom. If it's foggy, the sound of the fog horn we were advised is really loud. Because it's right there. The bathroom door handle was missing on the inside, bring a friend to hold the door or mcgyver it like I did by jamming my leather purse handle in between the door and jam to keep it closed.

The drive down the gravel road is a bit bumpy and disconcerting... you then have a short hike down to the light house however it is well worth it once you see the view!! It is absolutely amazing!! if you are hungry there is a nice little cafe to have a bite and a coffee.. and there is even an option for a nights stay! a true Hidden gem that while off the beaten path is certainly worth the explore!

Take the road less travelled. You will discover a wonderful unique spot on the Earth. Having visited the great cities and tourist sites in the world, Cape d'Or offers the beauty Few others offer. A wonderful engaging Host, chef and Innkeeper makes the Experience special.

It'll take a while to get there, but definitely worth it. You have to drive on a gravel bumpy road and then climb down quite a hill. At the bottom there is a lighthouse, an inn, and a restaurant. We just wanted to check out the landscape/view which was amazing. However, the only bathroom down there is in the restaurant and the man in there told us to go in the bush instead of using his bathroom! Not impressed with him.

Cape d'or is a bit of a drive on gravel road but there are no crowds and we were there as the tide was coming back in and it was ripping, amazing to sit and watch. The restaurant was fantastic food and well priced although a limited menu but what they did they did well! There is a beach part way down that was fun the poke around on too, we were the only ones on the beach!

A little bumpy ride to get to this site and a extra long hike down a path to get to the lighthouse location but absolutely worth it. Sure glad we made the effort. The restaurant wasn't open when we visited. The views are breathtaking and to see it like we did at low tide is amazing. You can only imagine how much water would have to flow to the site to make it reach up along the cliffs. Out further in the ocean it seemed like water was flowing in every direction resulting in what looked like rapids.

Its a long bumpy road and a steep hill to climb down but well worth it The view of the Atlantic and the Dory Rips is breathtaking. We ate at the restaurant (the light keeper's) and would climb the hill twice for another meal there.

It's a bit out of the way, up a dirt road, and the climb down is steep, but seeing the Cape D'Or lighthouse, foghorn (be aware it may sound at any time) and the Dory Rips is well worth the trip. There is a restaurant there, but it wasn't open the day we visited. The rental house beside it was being occupied, but the whole area, (about 2 acres) leaves plenty of room for everyone. The views are spectacular, but try to go on a sunny warm day to fully appreciate them. There are some hiking trails nearby so bring sturdy shoes. The hike back up is a bit hard, so don't leave it too late to return.
