We thoroughly enjoyed our stay last week at Old Shipyard Campground. We stayed in the one bedroom cabin; it was beautiful and had everything we needed for our stay. Eric is super friendly and helpful and I highly recommend this place for anyone wishing to experience the Advocate Harbour area. We went kayaking in Advocate Harbour as well as had dinner at the Wild Caraway. Everything was Perfect! Great family memories for my self, my husband and our two sons. We will definitely be back.

It is a very long beach that makes for a great walk. We usually go once a year to enjoy the beach and to see how far we can walk before having to turn around due to the tide. Campground appears to be well situated and full any time we have been down, so I suggest you get reservations. Ocean comes right up to the campground at high tide. Very laid back area, for rest an relation.

I stumbled across Spencer's Island and the campground there on my way to Cape Chignecto Provincial Park... in fact, the Park Ranger at Chignecto directed me to the beach campground when I found out that Cape Chignecto was backpack campsites only. What a blessing to be advised about the Old Shipyard Beach Campground; It was more than fabulous. The owners were absolutely wonderful people, Bob and Noreen. So welcoming and accommodating. I planned for 1 night and stayed almost a week... and hated to leave even then. It has everything you need for a fantastic, relaxing, peaceful and totally enjoyable vacation. Be sure to visit this wonderful place and book ahead for one of their new cabins. There are also full service RV/big-rig sites and tent sites, as well. You will absolutely love this place on the Bay of Fundy with extraordinary high and low tides. (Each day 100 billion tonnes of seawater flows in and out of the Bay of Fundy during one tide cycle — more than the combined flow of the world’s freshwater rivers! An amazing fact about an amazing place.)

we stayed at the Old Shipyard Beach Campground, which was clean and good value, and got to spend a couple of days enjoying the scenery around Spencer Island. We watched the immense tidal change as the water receded almost 200 meters back at low tide, revealing the rocky bed of what is otherwise the ocean. A fascinating, completely unique place, well worth at least a few nights on any Nova Scotian itinerary.

If you want to experience the Maritimes in its raw, true, genuine state, this area is exactly what you need. I stayed in a 1-bedroom cabin at Spencer's Island (Old Shipyard Beach Campground), which was awesome. The rates are excellent for what you get - which is a fully equipped cabin on the beach, newly renovated, with a quaint just-like-home feel. The sunrise from your bedroom is the perfect way to wake up!! On-site there is a cute beach cafe, a Lighthouse museum and the monument for the ghost-ship Mary Celeste. Nearby in Advocate Harbour you get unique delicious dining at the Wild Caraway, and the Lighthouse at Cape D'or, and nova scotia's largest Provincial Park, Cape Chignecto. The people are SO nice, everyone waves and makes you feel like a local :) Heaven on earth and I was only there for one night! I will for sure be back again. Special thanks to the operators of the campground who greeted me by name and the friendly people in Advocate Harbour.
