The war memorial has a deep historical thread to the world wars. The bells are "called upon" to ring out melodies and songs during all important events in the centre of Simcoe.

This is a war memorial; however, there were no easy to find hours as to when it might be open. Great list of names and battles etched in bronze on the outside to study. No idea if inside had anything of viewing content or not.

Like most communities across Canada, this is Simcoe's memorial to the fallen of both World Wars.The structure itself is an impressive grey limestone tower with a set of carillon bells that chime the half hour and the hour. There is also a "keyboard" the is used to play the bells on various occasions, including Remebrance Day ceremonies.The building itself has four bronze plaques on the west and north faces that carry the names of all the soldiers that did not return home from both wars.It's located just outside the town's public high school in the middle of the park system with the Lynn River as a back drop. This structure is one that everyone one of us has visited at sometime during our lives, either with our schools at Remebrance Day or on our own to read the names of those Norfolk Country young men and women that gave their lives for the service of King and Country

Had a few opportunities to tour inside over the years. Extremely interesting if you get a chance. This is a very historic memorial to the dead of Norfolk County who paid the ultimate price for service in the military. Most people will visit the outside only during Christmas Panorama, Remembrance Day or when they are spending time at the nearby park system. You can hear the carillon music at Christmas and every hour on the hour, from most of the downtown of Simcoe.
