This was a great place to walk to. Although it is a "fake" town. Very cute. Lots of interesting gifts to buy. We loved chatting with the people and the churros were delicious!

I've been there 3 times during my one week trip. From my hotel (Starfish) it was a 5-10 minutes walk or someone at the hotel brought us there in a golf cart. Also the little red train (free) pass every 30 min or so at the hotel lobby or the panoramic bus (2cuc) every.. the schedule for this one NOT CLEAR AT ALL. We've never took the bus. The Japanese's restaurant sooo good! About 50cuc for 2 pers., Trattoria (pizza place) 10cuc including drinks for 2 pers. (really good deal if you want to skip a meal at the buffet :P) and Casa du miel 20cud for 2 pers. (food ok). The cheaper place to buy cigars and rum (I don't remember the name) Habanos something.. the store in the building with the tower. Otherwise a good place to buy little souvenirs and the seller just tell you the price (the prise is good) and they don't try to sell you thing or over sell you thing. which is great.

We were staying at the iberostar ensenachoes and decided to go to Pueblo la Estrella for a family of three we took a cab ride there for six dollars the same price as if we took the double decker bus plus you didn't have to wait around and hour for the bus to show up.Then after we were done shopping we took the double decker bus back to the hotel for a senic route. There are a couple of restaurants, spa, gym, bowling alley and a bank which had a long lineup. There were vendors selling cotton candy and freshly roasted peanuts at only one peso each you cant find those prices back in Canada. There was a vast assortment of street vendors selling purses, shoes, sundresses, jewelry, hats, wood carvings, and beautiful paintings. One thing I liked about shopping there was no pressure from the vendor to buy anything and no haggling everything was reasonably priced.

If you don't plan on doing any excursions to Trinidad or Sancti Spiritus, then this is pretty much the most convenient shopping option (other than your hotel gift shop). Pueblo la Estrella is located in between the Memories Resort and the Royalton resort so if you are staying at one of these resorts you can easily walk here. We stayed at Memories so was able to come here several times during our 2 week stay. Guests at Memories can also hop on the little red train (for free) that goes around the resort to get to this shopping plaza. Guests at other hotels in Cayo Santa Maria can take the double decker bus that stops at the hotel to get here. It costs one peso each way. There's several restaurants (a couple of them are only open in the evenings), a bowling alley, a bank, a spa, gym, and postoffice. Some of the street vendors sell some pretty sundresses, jewellery, straw hats and paintings. I bought some cuban honey at the honey cafe but I saw it for cheaper at the airport. The freshly roasted peanuts and peanut candy at the peanut kiosk were delicious and it was only one peso each! I recommend going up to the tower and taking a few pictures.

While staying at Starfish Cayo Santa Maria we went to Puebla la Estrella several times and found that they had competitive prices and better selection than the store a the resort. It is less than a 10 minute walk from Starfish. There are several restaurants, a bar or two, a spa and a gym, as well. We used the gym several times and found it to be very good. The "Chinese" restaurant was OK, a change from the food at the resort.

We have been to Cayo Santa Maria three times and everytime we go, we go to this tourist village at least once, we have not shopped the souvenirs but we go for the change of scenery. We bought a couple pizzas from a restaurant it was quite affordable and fed our family of four. Yes it was extra money but it was nice to get away from resort and try something different to eat. We also went to the ice cream parlour, but the selection was low so our kids had icecream but It was nothing to rave about. It appeared most things we closed Im not sure if things open at night or if it was or is a random thing. My husband and I did also eat supper at the Japanese Resturant one evening again it was extra but again a welcome change and a meal out without our kids. The service was great at that Resturant. I can tell you about the bowling alley, spa, theatre or bank I didn't use them.

Considering Cayo Santa Maria is literally an island with only resorts on it, this shopping center is a great addition. There are numerous restaurants, shops, and even a bowling alley to break up the monotony of resort life for a week or more. The bus comes to your hotel every hour and is only $1. In some cases it is possible to walk to the Pueblo, depending on what resort you stay at. Worth taking a look if interested in buying some souvenirs and getting off the resort.

Lots of vendors. Great variety. Lots of restaurants. Cuban music. Something for everyone. You can catch the double decker bus from any resort but the Melia Buenavista. If you are staying at the Buenavista you will need to wait for the shuttle to pick you up and take you to one of the sister hotels to catch the double decker or take a cab. The bus costs 2 pesos per person each way. You can take a cab for 4 - 5 pesos.

Pueblo la Estrella is a beautiful little shopping area close to the resort, with a train ride every 10 min. You can shop, have a coffee, drink and eat as well and take beautiful pictures. A little sense of Cuban life.

I was surprised how good the shopping was here.We were staying at Hotel Playa Cayo Santa Maria and were not planning to leave on any tours to towns off of the Cayo. However we needed to shop for a few items and went here on the Bus that goes around Cayo Santa Maria to the various hotels. What we found:Lots of shops and also restaurants.A good variety of items to choose from.We bought an excellent painting from the artist, at a good price. We also bought some Cuban cigars from a government approved shop with good variety. We also got some rum and a beautiful hand made tablecloth also at a very good price.Overall we spent about 2 hours here, which is probably all you need. It was close enough to walk back along the beach to our hotel which took about 30-40 minutes while strolling through the gentle waves. A nice diversion from resting by the pool or beach side.Highly recommended as a destination while you are in Cayo Santa Maria.
