My husband and myself stayed in Cayo Coco last year in March and had an amazing time. We toured Moron and the town of Ciego de Avila. Very interesting to me. The oldbeautifully colored old buildings are amazing and such beautiful doors and iron work everywhere. I also got some cutlery rings and bracelets. Seen where they were made and would love to go back when we visit Cuba this year. Just so much beautiful culture here.

Such an eye opener visiting this city. Loosely called a city and even more loosely 'modern'. Took a great bike taxi ride with a very friendly guy who pointed out all the local museums and other points of interest. An experience not to be missed.

Vibrant city full of interesting architecture, galleries, patio bars and restaurants. I felt very safe walking around and many of the Cubans who live and work in this city are connected to the Tourism industry. Recent changes to the law allow Cubans to open small shops out of their homes so you may find many selling items of food right from their front door to make extra money.

We took the Spectacular tour to Ciego de Avila on Wednesday, December 17/14 on the day there was a thawing of relationship between Cuba the the USA as broadcasted in the television. The two-hour bus ride from Pestana resort to the city was truly spectacular which started with the lecture of Alex our tour guide about the history of Cuba. He even mentioned the great author, Ernest Hemingway on his love of Cuba - their music, rum and sugar andf their way of getting education or profession. Sugar plantation is in abundance in the farmland we passed by, visiting the crocodile farm, touring the city via bicycle taxi and a horse-driven carriage. At the restaurant where we ate, the food was delicious even accompanied by great singers while we ate. We also went for snack at a place where there was music for samba, cha cha and salsa. My wife and I had a chance to do some latin dances. There was also a bout tour among the fascinating mangrove. Shopping at a store was great as we bought bags of coffee until we almost dropped. We love their coffee. It was worth the price we paid for.

Ciego de Avile is really nice city. Unfortunately, there are no "attractions"- it is really just a goot city for stay overnight- look around the city and continue in your journey

We saw Ciego de Avila as part of the West Jet Espectacular trip. Our guide Mr. Falcon was excellent. We saw silversmiths, watched a musical display and enjoyed this bright and bustling city.Riding in a bicycle taxi was amazing! Keep an eye out for the guy who is delivering cakes on a bicycle. Ate lunch at Don Avila - wonderful food with music - and a sketch artist delighted our family with sketches. Truly a one of a kind souvenir!Buying your cigars, souvenirs and liquor hear is a good idea as there is typically more selection than at the hotel. If you do get carsick please remember that the roads are not as smooth as back home (Canada for us). We saw a few people wearing pressure bands to relieve. This city alone was worth the money we spent.
