The Caucasian Mountains in Armenia are also called the Lesser Caucasian Mountains because they are not as high as those you will find in Georgia and Russia. Nevertheless, this fact does not diminish their beauty and grandeur. Some of the peaks of the Lesser Causcasian Mountains are covered with snow and Mount Ararat's snowy summit can be seen all year round.

As winer is close, all ski lovers are welcome to visit Tsaghkadzor ski resort. It was accommodated for Soviet athletes to prepare for Winter Olympics 88. Nowadays it is renovated and ready to host skiers from all over the world. @ArmDesk

The most stunning thing about my Caucasus trip was ... the Caucasus. The mountainside is definitely the most impressive one after the Andes, I find. Shadows and light change rapidly so that after every bend you can see new picture-perfect hills and rocks and on (and saying this: I'm actually more of a Sea person ...). You just have to go - take a cab from Yerevan to Goris f.e. - it will well show you what I mean.

The mountains in Armenia is the so called lesser Cacasian mountains.The tallest mountains you find between Russia and Georgia. The lesser Caucasian mountains are lower but the mountains are not less beautiful. From Armenia you can also see the grand Mount Ararat, more than 5300 meters above sea level.

The mountains were really breathtaking, you can not describe it with words. And people who we met were always very friendly, open and helpful..

Wonderful, white and peaceful mountains, full of small beautiful corners, frozen trees, iced rivers and silent birds... A place to enjoy nature like no other.

The hike takes you from Kari Lake ( elev 3200m) to the 2 summits of Arakadz. Mountain, an extinct volcano. Kari is reached via car. The road takes you through spectacular views of Scotland- like ranges, bedouin Yezdi herds, and real honey making locals who'll sell it for 10$ per kilo, freshly collected from the hive!! The hike is easy, takes 3 hrs to reach summit 1. ( elev 3880 m). The 1 hour extra to reach the north facing summit 2, elev4080 m. You can view the caldera, and even photograph Mt. Ararat from here. The whole trip with private guide, taxi costs 45,000 Drams( roughly 110 US$).

Fantastic view of Kazbek mountain and Gergeti Church. The Military Highway condition is poor and it is tiring to get to Kazbek, but once you get there you feel all the magnificence of this area. I will definitely visit this area one more time :)

We went very high in the Caucasus Mountains in Azerbiajan, and Georgia. Life up there is as it was in times long ago. Khynalyg village out of Guba is really worth the effort.We then, in Georgia, drove to Gudauri, stayed over night, and then crossed over the high pass to Kazbegi to see the Kazbegi Trinity Church, one of the most famous churches in the world.The mountains are amazing. Will be up again when further into this trip.

stunning mountains, beautiful scenery, amazing variety of bird life and the most friendly and helpful people. We travelled through the whole country on a car rally so got to see a lot of the area, I was very pleasantly surprised by Armenia as a whole, it is an amazing country, full of rich culture, history and a million monasteries.
