The guided tour involved a visit to their small museum area where the guide told us about some of the more important artifacts, then we went to one of the large surface-level storage facilities, then we went down underground into the cellars. (Note: There is an elevator if you cannot take stairs.) We were unfortunately not allowed into all the tunnels because they've had some problems with the roof falling in on the oldest areas. The underground areas were the most interesting and you can really smell (literally) the history here. While we were in one of the underground areas we tasted our first brandy. At the end of the tour we were brought to a nice dinning area where they served us two more brandies, fresh fruit, chocolate, and bottled water -- all included in the tour. The woman who led the tour was a bit rude, honestly, and it seemed like she would rather have been doing almost anything other than guiding us. Every line she said seemed very recited and when we asked questions she rolled her eyes at us and acted as if it were an incredible inconvenience for her to try to answer our inquires. She spoke good English. The cost was 3600 dram ($7.50 USD) per person which on a per-person cost is pretty cheap, considering the drinks and food included. But we had a group of 9 people and so the total cost was $67.50, which is very, very expensive for a 1 hour tour in Yerevan. I think they should cap the price at something like $20 per group. We were advised to call ahead, so we called on Thursday to book our tour for Saturday. The person who answered the phone did not speak English, but she connected me to someone who spoke perfect English to schedule the tour. We scheduled the last tour of the day at 3pm. They close promptly at 4pm, a fact which both our guide and the cashier at the shop repeatedly reminded us. We were in the shop around 4:05pm and she was literally booting us out. The shopkeeper also acted like she was very inconvenienced by our presence -- just very interested in closing the shop and going home. So, I'd highly recommend you take the 2pm or earlier tour and maybe you won't get such attitude from the guide and shopkeeper. (Note: They don't do tours on Sundays.)Despite the attitude from the guide and shopkeeper, actually it was a very good experience and something to see, especially if you don't do these kind of things frequently. I learned a bit about the history of the process and history of Yerevan. And the brandies were quite tasty. I do recommend the Noy Brandy Factory tour.

We had a reservation for a tour made by our hostel but were still surprised we were the only two participants with our guide. Since both my husband and I are fluent in Russian, we opted the Russian tour instead of English and therefore I can't really comment on the guide's proficiency in English. We were really happy about the tour which was nicely paced, everything was shown to us and explained. I loved the tasting part, which, again, was explained in detail and we were left to take our time and enjoy the lovely cognacs of Noy Ararat.

It was a marvelous excursion to the most interesting cognac factory I`ve ever seen!!! Cool guys will show you the factory itself, they`ll tell all the legends and of course at the end of the excursion you will have a chance to taste one of the best cognac in the world! All you need to - is just a call ! So call the factory, book the excursion and have fun! Welcome to Armenia , welcome to a fairy tale!

Very impressive visit, historical and at the same time testy. Brandy testing at the end of the tour makes visit more worth to do.

This visit reinforced for me what I had come to believe about Yerevan: that this city, despite its potentials, does not yet know how to treat tourists. We just visited NOY Brandy Factory today. Very interesting place in many ways: impressive architecture, great exterior and interior design, beautifully arranged showrooms, and above all the amazing cellars . . . and of course the BRANDY itself. I just wish this was a self-guided tour like most wine tasting tours in Napa Valley because the guide ruined the whole experience for me. My wife, me and my 4 year old daughter got there at around 2 pm. We didn’t have a reservation and didn’t know we needed one. We went right in through the main entrance and told them we were there for the brandy tasting tour and asked if children were allowed to visit. “Of course,” they replied, and asked us to wait for our guide. Seconds later we met Alla (or Ella or something like that) who looked more like a beauty salon girl than a guide. And there started the half hour rush rush tour during which Alla kept gargling out with heavy accent a wealth of information recital like about the factory, fidgeting impatiently with a “hey move it now” kind of look on her face every time we lingered to snap a photo. She didn’t like being interrupted especially if she thought you had just asked a dumb question. There were also all these Armenian guys in factory uniforms hanging around the place mostly inside the cellars who stared at us with half suppressed sneers that would give you the feeling that you were at the wrong place and certainly not welcome. Every single time we approached one of the guys the girl would get engaged in a lengthy conversation with them in Armenian, and she gave you no doubt that they were talking about you and they shared the same feelings towards you. I honestly think she would fit better in an escort service type of environment. Our overall impression of the visit: Bi..h!

Armenia has always been known for its wines and brandies (cognacs) and to "smell" the roots of wine and brandy production it is a must to visit the factory...great experience
