On a lousy cold February morning I joined this market inspired by the recommendations by tripadvisor. Expected not really much but was surprised how big it was . I just can imagine how much fun it must be in summer times.A big big range of antiquities and not these plastic handy covers or cheap and faked tshirts made in China . Recommended

You only got to visit this market on a weekend in Armenia. The locals are honest. Price of stuff doesn't differ much from other stall. A place to visit for souvenirs!

We visited on a relatively-warm Saturday in January 2015 and were surprised to find the market quite busy even in the middle of winter. It was obvious from the number of tables that the market would be 5 times the size in the summer, but there was still excellent variety in January. You'll find a lot of wood carved chess boards, paintings, and other Armenian wares. While you're in the area you should check out Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, the Vardan Mamikonyan Statue, and the Zoravar Andranik Statue, all within a very short walk through Luna Park.

The Vernissage Market is a "must see" if you happen to be in Yerevan during the weekend. It is a short walk from the Republic Square. For tourists like me, it is interesting to shop for souvenir items. I purchased some T-shirts and book markers here but I honestly feel the prices were not really cheap and it was extremely difficult to bargain.

One can spend hours walking around there, and the selection of things from sale is extremely wide from old wornout shoes to excellent kelims and carpets. But the things I found interesting was not very cheap compared to prices other places. Also I did not like to see the live animals they were selling! But it was nice that this is a market where the locals also go to!

The Vernissage is an institution in Yerevan. A convenient location about two blocks from Republic Square, there are hundreds of sellers with almost anything you are looking for. From books to pots and pans. From cheap souveniers to high end silver. From toy drums to flutes to quality Duduks. Carvings, pictures, antiques. But know your prices and values. A fun place to go through to window shop or shop for that certain item. Don't take items for the first price, but don't expect half off.

Don't get me wrong there are some bargains here, you have to fish around quite a bit and there is everything from quite tatty tourist stuff and regular day to day market fare likes pots and pans but there are some gems and antiques and quite a bit of interesting glass ware from when Armenia was soviet, (for example, bohemian glass from the then Czecheslovakia and tea glass holders from Moscow). I picked up a nice simple silver handmade mens ring, nothing too flash but good for 35 USD. BUT, be aware that if you buy a genuine antique here I believe that if its over 50 years old you should have permission from the government to leave the country with it, also do not expect to haggle much of the price, I got a good 2000 dram off the ring with the help of my local guide, (thankyou Irina!) but that was as good as was possible and that is about 5USD. There was a great selection of almost everything but I did see some pearls that were 400 USD and an antique knife that was close to 500USD so bring your cash if you are a buyer. Worth an hour or so though.

This open market is 2 minutes from the Republic Square, open on Saturdays and Sundays.It contains anything that is not food: from kebab "shish" irons, to handmade clay souvenirs, glass, paintings, clean breed pets, old cameras, microscopes, even engine parts.Its a half km long, with three lanes.Haggling is ok.
