We flew to Flores then 1 hour by bus to the boat then 1 1/2 hour by boat to the landing then a 45 min climb uphill to the ruins of the Mayan city. A few small pyramids and stelae and not much else. It is a lot lof effort to gert here and really not worth it. I would give this place a pass.

We approached Ceibal by river which was, in itself interesting and enjoyable with lots of different birds and the occasional crocodile. (I believe it is possible to approach by road). The climb to the site through the jungle from the river was steep and, on the day of our visit, hot, humid and mosquito infested.Ceibal was clearly once a huge site almost all of which remains under the jungle. There is a reconstructed temple, a second smaller structure and seven or eight stellae which have been re-erected. The carving on the stellae is interesting but nowhere near the quality of those at Quirigua. A group of archaeologists were working on the site but were unwilling to allow us to duck under the cordon to look down into the trench - even though we were the only visitors at the site.We had an excellent guide which definitely helped get a better understanding of the site which we found fairly interesting but I doubt anyone who does not have a keen interest in Mayan history would find it worth the effort.

Aca se pueden ver hermosas estelas, hay pocas ruinas restauradas. Se llega al lugar a traves de un hermoso paseo por el rio. Hay que montar una larga escalera

Ceibal é um sítio arqueológico, da civilização Maya, do período Clássico, situado na orla do Rio La Pasión, Petén, Guatemala. Muitos lugares da Guatemala guardam importantes sítios arqueológicos e relíquias da civilização Maya que dominou também o México e Honduras.

Aunque los restos arqueológicos no son impresionantes, sí lo es el trayecto en barca hasta el lugar, y la caminata por la zona. El entorno es magnífico, lleno de vegetación y de animales, especialmente monos aulladores. IMPRESCINDIBLE llevar repelente de mosquitos.

Como casi todos los yacimientos arqueológicos de Guatemala, Ceibal está en plena selva, te sientes rodeado e inmerso en un ambiente muy natural.Sin restar importancia a su valor histórico debo decir que me decepcionó un poco, pues tiene muy pocos monumentos excavados, aunque sus estelas son muy interesantes. El acceso es bastante difícil y hacer éste esfuerzo para llegar hasta allí y ver tan poca cosa ...Sin embargo recomiendo su visita pues siempre es complemento de otros lugares arqueológicos.

Дорога, отходящая на городище-раскопки Ceibal грунтовая, но наезженная, 8км преодолел совсем быстро, весело разбрызгивая грязь из луж по придорожным насаждениям.Сайт маленький, практически ещё не расчищенный, хотя работы ведутся с 1956 года.Денег за вход не берут.Дядька смотритель обстоятельно рассказывал о городище, а мы кивали головами.Собственно, дошедшей информации немного.Династические правители относили себя к правителям царства "Южный Муталь".В городе основные дворцовые и административные постройки находились в группе «D» на естественном холме, возвышающемся над рекой Пасьон на 80 м. Склоны холма были эскарпированы, а платформы, поддерживавшие здания, тесно примыкали друг к другу, образуя практически сплошную стену. Открытая главная площадь в группе «А», располагавшаяся на речном берегу, была окружена стеной.Активная жизнь города затихла в начале десятого века нашей эры, после череды кровопролитных войн.Восстановлена одна, небольшая пирамида.На территории городища есть много прекрасно сохранившихся стел, в том числе доклассические. Археологи насчитали 65 стел — это весьма немалое количество, учитывая, что их устанавливали по поводу серьёзных событий и в конце календарных циклов. Это настоящие клады монументального и изобразительного искусства майя.Но чаще встречаются многочисленные холмы, правильной формы и насыпи, с торчащими, тёсанными камнями из под корней монстрообразных деревьев.Среди местных построек, особенно примечательной, является круглая обсерватория, самое древнее здание такого типа у майя.Ревуны были очень недовольны нашим появлением.Орали, как резанные.

fuimos con el vehículo que habíamos alquilado, cruzamos en balsa un río por el que podríamos haber navegado para llegar al parque de otra manera, estaba lleno de monos aulladores, que nos recibieron arrojándonos el fruto del arbol de ramón típico de la zona. Muy interesante

Ne pas hesitera y aller.Nous nous y sommes rendusen voiture, mais avons du terminer à pieds, il faut s il a plu un 4x4 sinon oubliez.Site pas mal mais peu de choses en regard d autres sites et mal commente pas un suel panneau d explications, seule une maquette à l entree. Pournous c etait le 1er des sites mayas donc on a apprécié. Depuis cette année payant et donc comme pour es autres tres cher 60qtz

Local interessante, acesso por barco exige uma subida ingreme durante 20 minutos. Muitos mosquitos. Muitos macacos.
