Try to contract a local guide from the Park Management if you are interested in wildlife and birds, this way you will be brought off the beaten track and get the most of your visit. Try to start morning if possible, before things slow down in the mid-day heat.

lil forest in the middle of zanzibar island, only need a few hours to get the idea of the forest walks, the monkeys were easy to spot for us, just a few minutes walk from the reception. cafe was under construction, but still got some hot chips and a coke no problem. average priced attraction, worth it if you get to see the monkeys as close as we did. only a couple feet away and not camera shy....

Great to contribute to the conservation of the colobus monkeys. Very interesting tour, fab pictures with the monkeys, info about the trees and fauna and then onto a mangrove walk. Very knowledgeable guide.

This place gives nice opportunity to meet real tropical rainforest. You can walk through Zanzibar jungle and see many tropical plants, but the most interesting Zanzibar red colobus monkey!

Pretty surroundings but not much to see except for monkeys in trees! Very hot in Dec! You could tour the trees but we opted not to do as all hot!

Once you've paid your entrance fee you go for a walk of an hour or more to discover the forest, specially to see the colobus monkeys but also some nice birds, reptiles and crabs (in the mangroves). The friendly guide is happy if you tip him :-)

the red colobus monkey PLUS the forest trails PLUS the mangrove forest boardwalk: 3 delights in 1 visit and each can take 30 minutes or 3 hours. The park has about 3000 monkeys we were told and we must have seen and watched several dozen from just a few feet away, munching lunch in the trees or crossing the road (quite dangerous actually) and they are really interesting to see and watch; the forest walk with a knowledgeable guide which we had was a total delight; peaceful, well maintained and fascinating; the board walk through the mangrove swamp was a sight not seen in many places. The drive to the park from just about anywhere in zanzibar is quite gruelling but well worth the investment of $ and time. Go for it.

If you want to get in touch with nature this is the best place to go to. The ride to the park takes you through the villages and you get to mingle with the locals(if you get the right guide). Loved the Mangrove. Loved it

It was ok, the guide was knowledgeable but the tour was over in 30 minutes. The overall travelling time to the location was 45 minutes.
