There was a 5$ entrance fee but this was well worth it knowing that you contribute towards preserving the endangered green turtles. If you are there in feb, there is a grand release of the turtles back into the wild. they have been healed back to health from the injuries they have received from fishermen, who bring the turtles here instead of eating them.Well inside we had a nice tour explaining the green turtles life cycle and fed them with green lettuce. Great fun for kids.

Obviously swimming with turtles every morning and evening was the highlight, but it was great to know that these turtles are there as they have been injured when caught by fishermen. The turtles are rehabilitated and then put back into the ocean, how much the human interaction affects them after they are released i am not sure though, i was assured they do not seek humans after and the turtles are tagged before release.The cottages are simple but clean and super comfy and the breakfasts are simple but do the job. If you want peace and quiet in the evening this is a great place as it is outside the Nungwi main bar area but you can walk there along the beach safely at night if you fancy some beers and livelier evenings. Also along the beach is a great rasta bar that pumps reggae to the early hours. no fee if you stay at the place otherwise yes there is a fee

It is not a glamorous place by any means but where the turtles are kept is a tidal pond and is very clean. It was an amazing experience swimming these majestic animals. It was very safe.Could be promoted more.The keepers are passionate about looking after the turtles which are brought to the sanctuary if caught in the fishermen's nets. The turtles are then recuperated and later released.One of the highlights of our trip and worth supporting this organisation.We took some great photos and it is awesome snorkelling with these creatures. It is very safe.

Waste of time, no explanations about what the project is doing. They just take the entrance fees and you are left staring into a pond wondering what it's all about. The 'centre' needs to be lifted up before a visit is justified.

This review is for Baraka Natural Aquarium in the Baraka Beach Bungalows - Im not sure if it's the same aquarium - but we had an amazing time swimming with the turtles. They provided us with a snorkel and mask and lets swim around whilst they fed them seaweed. The turtles seem healthy and happy and it was a total pleasure to come in such close contact with them and in a beautiful setting! A highlight of our trip.

Not very well signposted, found it completely by accident as it is right next to where we were staying and we cut through when the tide was in,went swimming with the turtles, very cool....for about $10, also fed them and the fish.

A great place to go if you want to see turtles, and swim with them. However their should be more rules and control over interacting with the turtles as I've seen on numerous occasions guests screaming and kicking at the turtles when they get to close to them. Which is highly unacceptable.None of the staff speak good English or seem to have any idea about what (if any) release programs exist. I've yet to meet a manager on site.That said the turtles all seem very happy, healthy, well fed and the place is always clean. I just think it needs direction.

Not much to see for 5$ - 27 turtles that ate some sea lettuce in a small salt water lagoon. The staff didn't speak much English and don't say much. There was a bunch of 2 day old baby turtles that were placed in big basins and fed tiny fish. The only other thing to see is a regular tortoise and 3 Tanzanian immigrant crocodiles. Max 20 minute visit. The beach at the entrance is beautiful.

the entrance fee is 5$, and there is not so much space inside. If you have never seen the water turtles you can visit it, otherwise do not worth visiting.

Well it was a hug pond with lots of turtles...I learnt quite a bit about turtles.The setting was indeed natural.
