Very Nice museum, had a good time. Nice to see all the guns. Loved to hear all the stories from the owner, and enjoyed his coffee too.

Fred Wise has spent considerable time, energy and funds to create a focal point of local history connected to the civil war. His museum has a very nice collection of both Indian artifacts and many civil war artifacts, both from the battle fought on his land and from other parts of the country. It is well worth your time to make a detour. He even has a bed and breakfast on the premises if you need a quiet place to spend the night. Who knows, you maybe lucky enough to see one of the alleged ghosts who frequent the land. There is a $5.00 fee for the museum and it is worth the price of admission. I hope you will have time to walk the stage coach road down to the ford across the creek and look over the terrain where the battle was fought.

Fred Wise, the owner, has worked very hard to provide a unique historical visit to the site of a Civil War battle- many of the displayed artifacts were found on his property, but he has collected many from individuals who entrusted them to him for public display. One visit won't be enough to take it all in. The trail along the creek where the battle took place is also a beautiful short walk.

For civil war buffs this is a must go to place. It costs $5 per person well worth it. Fred the owner is the most interesting to talk to - he has so much knowledge about the war. He has so many artifacts and so many stories. I am not that interested in civil war, my husband is but I have to tell you I enjoyed the time spent. We were the only two there with him and we must have spent 2 hours talking to him, listening to his stories and having him show us around his property. It is a small building next to his house but you won't be disappointed. He even showed us the cabin he has on the property that he will rent out. This man has so many things inside and outside that you will be glad you took the time to go.

After seeing this museum on a Television show "absolutely Alabama" I decided to visit it. I was amazed at the collection of Civil War Artificts and other items contained in the museum. There is a bed and breakfast located adjacent to the museum as well as several Civil War era buggies located under a shed nearby. The owner is well versed on the battle which took place there during the war and shares some interesting stories. Books are for sale as well and the artifacts may be handled if you wish. A really interesting little museum and a must see if you are in the Vinemont, Alabama area west of Cullman.

We were on our way to visit and picnic at the Clarkson covered bridge but it was closed for repairs. We happened to pass by the sign for Crooked Creek Civil War Museum and said what the hell. Not having any real expectations we drove on to the museum. We arrived expecting no one to be there but we were wrong. There was a $5 admission fee (well worth it) upon entering we met Fred, the owner/tour guide. What a great character, he was wonderful and very knowledgeable and entertaining. We loved this place and I plan on bringing all my visitors to my lake house to the museum to meet this wonderful man and very interesting museum.

I had a great time at the Museum and on the property. I talked with the owner Fred Wise for a couple hours. He has a lot of good stories and a lot of awesome artifacts. I really appreciated him preserving the property the way he has. He has brought buildings from around his county to be preserved and used once again on his property. The dirt road that runs down his property to the creek is an old trail used by Davy Crockett and Andrew Jackson to fight the Indians in southern Alabama. I had fun there, and I really felt like I was being watched from the trees and across the other side of the creek. The property really felt alive. Maybe some of the fallen soldiers had never left the battlefield. I really suggest talking to Fred and listening. I heard about his Museum while I was in the town of Cullman. I visited the County Museum there. It was great. I'd check them out as well. It gives a lot of in site into how the people of that area felt about the Civil War. and where the stood.

hands on museum, we were able to handle the guns and cannon balls and take as many pictures as we wanted. nice picnic area. cabin a little rustic with stuffed animals everywhere.

I have visited this museum with different members of my family several times. We always enjoy the visit and Mr. Wise and his family are great hosts. The chance to see and touch exhibits makes this a truly memorable experience. We have also been to some of the living history events and been able to see cannons fired and campsites set up, this really lets you have a window into the past. The walk down to the creek is well worth the time. I highly recommend visiting Crooked Creek and I know I will visit again.

We visited the museum yesterday. My 10 year old daughter liked the dioramas and that it was on an actual war site. She also liked being able to hold some of the artifacts to feel what they were like. The owner showed us around himself and was friendly. We would like to go back and visit again when we have more time to walk down to the creek or maybe can stay at the bed and breakfast.
