This is just your basic park with some RV spots, a covered picnic area, and, occasionally you may find the museum open. The museum is a recreation of a trading post "fort" that was located about 4 miles west of this site. The original fort was too close to the mouth of the Boise River - where it dumps into the Snake River - and was flooded out one spring and the rivers changed their courses enough that the real site is still out in the middle of the Snake River. That said, there is a very nice memorial to war veterans, a statue of Sacajawea with her sons, and a strange statue of a historically local Indian called "Bigfoot." Visiting the museum can be interesting during local celebrations when there may be local artisans demonstrating historic skills. The day I visited in May it was cold and raining and I just needed a place to park, finish my lunch, and throw away the garbage when I was done. The park did a good job of that. While I was there several other people drove in, parked for a few minutes, disposed of their garbage, and went on. One or two RV's came through, one appeared to be setting up for the night, though there was no camp office to pay for the privilege. One dumpster diver also came through and checked out the big dumpster.
