The memorial is located in the crater with amazing views on the way up and as you enter the cemetary. There is currently construction on the monument at the front of the cemetary but almost all of the crater is still accessible. This is a touching memorial to those who have served. Before you go check the notable persons list on their website. Also, beware, once you get close there are great signs as you must snake your way through a residential area on the way up.

A vast cemetery but a word of warning if you want to stay and wander around the memorial stones - no tour buses are allowed to stop here.

A beautiful memorial to honor our heroes. Perfectly manicured grounds. Final resting place of Ernie Pyle. The drive up provides glimpses of suburban Honolulu. There are great views of the city all along the way. There was a burial taking place while we were there, so the flag was at half staff.

We visited before heading out to Pearl Harbor... glad we took the time, beautiful grounds, and the monument has great tilework of battles from WW2, spend some time reflecting here.

This is one stop that you won't want to miss when you visit Honolulu. Take your time and make sure you visit all the areas of the cemetery. The walk up to the top gives a great view of Honolulu below and the graves. It is both peaceful and emotional at the same time if you think about what happened to all those that are buried here.Paul

I went to there walking from downtown, at least 1 hour walking. It worthed each step. It has an excellent view to all Honolulu, Diamond Head!!!

I'm not one to visit memorials or go to a graveyard for its beauty. I just don't think the memory of death goes with beauty. But in this case, I may have to change my mind. The setting and the mountain side and the energy of beauty reigns supreme here. I left with such love and raw emotion for the fallen and the awe of acknowledgement of life for those of us still living under the umbrella of sacrifice.

This is a gem that you should not overlook. It is an oasis in a bustling city. Take the time to park the car and walk around. The grounds are immaculate and it so serene. Very interesting trees lining the road up to the monument. We found it more compelling than the USS Arizona memorial mainly because it is quiet, not teeming with people and you can contemplate the sacrifices of those buried here.

Very pretty and well manicured lawn and trees. We visited here on a tour and learned quite a bit we would have not have known going there on our own. We were at the one in San Diego and this one is a bit different where the headstones are flat with the ground. I would go back!

We went to pay our respects to those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Freedom is taken for granted by many these days, and they have become used to having it without really knowing what it costs. Anyone who goes to Oahu should take a few hours and not only pay respects to those who gave their lives for you and me, but get a new appreciation for the United States of America as a banner of freedom in the world.Rest In Peace Comrads!Nick101st Airborne - Combat Wounded
