I took my aunt and uncle to French Lick and the highlight of our visit was this two hour train ride. Tickets are $18 for faults, and the track takes the train through the edge of town, by Larry Bird's boyhood home, through the edge of the Hoosier national forest, and past a waterfall that springs from a cave. The train stops for a brief 10 minute break before retracing its steps back to town. Along each way riders are alerted to points of interest. Cars are heated for cooler days and restrooms are on board, at the brief stop (those are port a johns), and back at the station. A snack bar offers sodas, water, spirits, cookies and candy on board. After the ride a few locals had tents set up with handcrafted items. One had homemade peanut and pecan brittles - yum. Coming up later this month will be special Thomas the tank engine rides. I've been on the Christmas season's Polar Express ride before and it is fun for adults AND kids. Whether you're an overgrown kid who loves trains or just want to see some Indiana scenery, this is a fun attraction.
