My daughter took her 2 year old to play with other preschoolers, so I walked the beach for exercise. This is a nondescript beach on the Port Susan side of Camano Island. It gets the sunrise, it is mostly sand and muck, there is ample beach on which to turn the kids loose, but it lacks the character of the western side of the island.

Just a beautiful beach and usually a lot of waterfowl and birds to see! Great relaxing spot any time of year. Parking is a bit limited however.

When visiting Iverson Beach, there are always two options: the "Hobbit Trail" or the sandy beach. The Hobbit Trail winds through brush, trees, and small ponds (roughly a mile walk) giving opportunity to see various wildlife. The best part could be the variety of birds one can see while out. A friend of ours had never seen a bald eagle (let alone two) until visiting Iverson. The beach is where my kids like to find themselves. The sandy beach is perfect for summer sun, summer fun, and wasting away the day. When the tide is out, it seems like it takes forever for it to come back in allowing for a lot of sandy beach time. The last time we were there (July 2014) the water was full of small jelly fish (apparently dead) that everyone enjoyed looking at or playing with (bigger ones that might have still been capable of stinging were not touched.)There are a variety of people who enjoy Iverson Beach; bird watchers, families, book readers, pet walkers, and sun bathers. Everyone is welcome and everyone is sure to enjoy themselves.

We actually go to the spit and walk the various trails, typically a one mile loop that includes a walk on the top of the dike, some marsh/wetlands, the toe of a slope area and crossings of various drainage channels along the way. That trip is approximately just shy of one mile, but you can also cross the dike in three locations and walk along the sandy beach, this length depends upon the tide but is also approximately one mile. During low tides the entire bay is or seems to be dry and simple wading can get you pretty far out in the water but watch out for the small channels. We enjoy the walk typically bring our dogs with proper poop bags, and they love it.

This is a beautiful preserve. We hiked the loop and loved it. Because of an unusually high tide we could not hike on the beach. We did see an eagle, a heron, and a few ducks. It was a gorgeous day and the mountain views were exceptional.

good place for a short easy walk. should take no more than an hour and it is level and easy to navigate. there can be muddy places after it rains. the camano trails assoc does a good job of maintaining the trails.

This is a great place to walk around and watch and listen. Walking along the beach and on the marked trails was a lot of fun. I hope to be able to return again soon!

I loved this little preserve with wonderful trails and thousands of birds! I was pretty much alone there most of the time. Beautiful!

though it does not have good facilities, only portapotties, has good parking and trails are well kept. we try and go ever few weeks to have fun and ensure that the trash is picked up. lots of good bird viewing opportunities. is very shallow and tidal so you can play in the water to an extent but the current does rip out into the Port of Susan, so don't go too far out.

This park is a hidden gem that many locals don't even know about. Lots of sandy beach when the tide is out. Great for sand castles with the kids. This is an excellent place for bird watching (song birds, raptor birds, and both salt and fresh water aquatic birds). I love this place. This is an excellent place to hike around. There is a very cool trail called the Hobbit Trail. This trail forces you duck your head a bit as you walk through the Hawthorne and Pacific Nine Bark bushes. It creates a cool tunnel of plants. There is a freshwater pond as well as intertidal lands with loads of plant diversity and animal diversity. I've seen lots of different bird species, coyotes, and deer. I also hear it's a good place to catch sturgeon from a boat.Great for kids to hike the easy going trails. Kids can build forts in the driftwood. And lots of sand to build whatever comes to mind.If you like tracking and learning about tracking different creatures, its a great place. Lots of sand to make it easy to learn.
