Sam Lynn Ballpark, which is the home of the Cincinnati Reds' single A team, the Bakersfield Blaze, was built in the early 1940's. This was before night games, so home plate faces directly into the sun. As a result, they can't start night games until 8 pm- ouch. And the dugouts are way down the base lines. As a result, instead of an on-deck batter, the next three batters come down and congregate near home plate. That was pretty funny to watch. You can't help but be close to the action, which was great. And they have wait staff who bring the food to you (you can only order special items at the grills behind home and down the 3rd base line. All in all, a pretty strange set up, but fun.
