We did the self guided tour of the State Capital. It was a very nice mix of history, art, and architecture. We liked being able to do it on our own, at our own pace. if you have an hour, go check it out!

I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for a picture, so I didn't get a chance to go in to see the dome. The grounds were well kept and there are a few nice monuments and statues in the front of it. Everything photographs nicely

Approaching the Capitol, it is quite different seeing an oil well on its grounds. The visitor parking area has the tunnel shut down, so I'm not sure where you're really supposed to park. Touring the building is free, they were out of maps when I went but it was fairly easy to navigate without. I was very surprised with the abundance of art in there. There were two temporary exhibits, two galleries, and many others all over many walls. I was there on a Sunday, so it was quite empty, and not really a working day. It was well worth an hour.

We enjoy touring state capitol buildings, and the capitol at Oklahoma City provides another fine example of our nation's treasures. The outside is one of the plainer examples of state capitols we have visited, and on this day (Dec. 31st), scaffolding was being put up for the next day's festivities, so we had to use a side entrance. But once inside, we were immediately impressed with the lovely murals and gorgeous architecture of the rotunda. We were free to tour the building or there is a visitors center with tours available. Well worth an hour or two.

We did the self-guided tour...took us about 2 hours (not the 45 mins they tell you). Everything is very open and accessible. Overall, it was a very good experience!

The capitol building has a lot to see. The outside has some wonderful sculptures of Indians that are modern and wonderful. In contrast, there is also an oil well right across from the front entrance that gave me pause and really emphasizes one of the problems of government - doing things for the good of of the people, including those who are minorities, or doing things at the behest of the rich. Inside, particularly the top few floors, have some wonderful art and architecture. But, there again, T. Boone Pickens and Sam Walton have large paintings and Conoco, Halliburton and other oil-related companies have their names enshrined inside the dome. It seems like a particularly uncomfortable marriage between the good and the bad of government in Oklahoma. Well worth a stop and some time spent.

This stop was completely spur of the moment and I am absulotely glad we stopped and took a tour. Bill, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant. This place was very impressive. The artwork was the best! I am from Oklahoma and honestly never realized how amazing our capitol building is. We will return again.

After seen already 4 state capitals in the USA it doesn't stay interesting. But in OKC we had a great guide and the artwork was the best I saw so for in a capital

The best thing that our state capital building impressi us with was the dome of this structure. This one addition to our capital building, put our capital on the same scale as our nations capital. To be found in Washington D.C.
